I can't answer your question and I don't know about NY or PA laws, but in VA (and in every other state, I assumed) you can only have ONE license, either an operators license or a CDL, but not both. When I was issued my CDL here, my old drivers license was surrendered to the DMV. I also think most states have reciprical agreements now, especially on CDL, that if another state suspends your right to drive, that's communicated to your home state and then your license is suspended, period.
panhandlepat Thanks this. -

Agreed, there's something like a national driver registry that all dmv's subscribe to, i think all law enforcement have access too.
i do believe tha driver is correct, i think fmcr say cdl suspended, no separation, no difference.
i think u may be able to call court clerk, make payment arrangement, that may lift suspension........take care -
If it's suspended in one state it's suspended in all states

just an FYI, this didnt happen to me, but a local driver i no. thanks for the info guys.

If you lose your CDL in NY, you lost your licence! BUT they will offer you the ability to get a RESTRICTED Licence. Which means you can only drive to and from work, emergancy reasons, doctor visits, school ect, you get the idea. I think it was $85, but the catch is No CDL, No Job to drive to, they might deny that to you.
I just suffered thru a 90 day suspension because I didn't turn in my 4wheeler plates after I totaled it by hitting a deer. I let the insurance company cancel the insurance but forgot the plates. Got up into Canada and found out via home that it was suspended. Luckly I made it back across border with no problems and got truck parked b4 I got nailed. It had been that way for 30 days and I nvr knew it. Good Luck! -

My NY lic was suspended due to "failure to pay a fine" It was a "No seat belt ticket" I got in my own veh. So, No biggie, I plead guilty. get the fine in the maile send a check, a personal check. Turns out the court dosent accept personal checks. It was on the letter I got but I didnt read it. My lic gets suspended, I never got a letter from DMV. So, I got that all cleared up, everything is fine now. But, I still have this suspension on my lic. Actully, Im meeting with the local judge on this monday to see if she'll have DMV remove this. Im told shes a nice lady and will more the likly say "OK". Im told DMV will remove if shes says to do so. Wish me luck.
