We only let in people that have no regard for human life which their driving and crash statistics provides ample evidence of that statement. So, they probably won't grant you a work visa to be a truck driver here.

If it were up to me I would welcome you with open arms. As well as people from countries where our cultures and values are very similar. We do just the contrary. We take people in from the crap holes of the world, really just so leftists can feel good about "making a difference". I say if we wanted to make a difference, how do we make it so they don't want to flee their own country? Because we will never be able to take enough. For every 1 we take I am sure we leave 999 behind. We simply can't help them all.

Not sure who hires drivers for Canpar but they likely have a opening. One of their tractor trailers just dumped on its side in ditch at Upsala.
    Canpar has cheap shipping:)

No one will just hire you; you will have to start the visa/immigration process. If you do find a company to sponsor you (not impossible, Polish Trucker Girl, Iwona Blecharczyk, did it-- check out her YouTube channel), then it's a start. Be aware though, that in her case, she seems to have quite a bit of experience and-- not discounting her abilities at all-- she has marketing value that you likely don't.

Also, if you do manage to find work, your CDL will not be exchanged and you must go through the whole licensing process. In Ontario that means a mandatory training program of at least 103.5 hours.

You would be better off to find work with an American company that hauls a lot of loads to/through Canada, or the American division of a Canadian company.

Depending on where your fiancée is working, it might be possible for you to live on this side of the border and commute to work on that side of the border... thousands of people do that.

One cannot simply move into Canada, and find a driving job.

Immigration is a tricky thing. Any company you approach in Canada will likely have the same answer for you. They will tell you they cannot hire an American citizen.

There are reasons for this. In order for a Canadian company to be able to "sponsor a work visa" they must prove that no other Canadian citizen could fill the role you are applying for. This is the reason why MOST Canadian companies will not sponsor a work visa for transport truck drivers. (I'm sure there are exceptions to this rule, in regards to special commodities etc- but I'm speaking about general Over the Road Van/Reefer/Flat Drivers)

In order to be eligible, they will likely ask that you have Permanent Residency, have a Pre-existing Visa (with conditions that you are eligible to work in Canada) , or be a dual citizen. Anything outside of that realm is usually uncharted territory.

'Not4hire' is correct in regards to the licencing portion of the transition as well. You are required to have a "AZ" licence. Your CDL is non transferable once you move here.
If you immigrated here, you would treat it like "starting fresh"
You would require a Canadian Social Insurance Number. a Canadian Drivers licence etc...

It would be smart to find an American based company that has a few Canadian hub's and reset your hours after you deliver into Canada, in order to spend much needed time, with your Fiancee.

If you are looking for more information in regards to immigrating into Canada. My suggestion would be to visit www.visajourney.com it can really help answer questions regarding the right options for your unique situation.

    Good Luck!

Given that almost all job ads say now, no experience necessary, and we have 10 LMIA slots open to be filled (meaning fresh off the boat immigrants, and if they have to run down to the states they need a Visa). So if those morons can do it in Canada, I don't see why you can't.

Personally I'm so done with trucking up here I'd love to sign on with an American company. But I can't, not allowed.
