Problems at TMC........

    Good luck, they're good to work for as long as you can deal with the tight rules. I don't mind the rules myself, lot better than a company that expects you to break every rule in the FMCSA book.

    We all received a qualcommm message from the owner of TMC, Mr Harold Annett.

    The closing of only the training yard in South Carolina has been in the works for a while. Last year TMC bought the old schneider terminal outside Des Moines. That facility included 20 something acres of pavement. Also during the middle of 2008 TMC opened a brand new state of the art full service terminal in Gaston SC. The plan always was to close the training terminal after the new one opened.

    As for the TMC/Maverick merger/sale/buyout/stock swap/etc rumor: There is no basis in fact here. There has been no transaction of any kind. Mr Annett states that he has been operating this company for 28 years and has no plans to change anytime soon.

    Third TMC is going to be cleaning out some problem drivers. The drivers who have broken a lot of rules, are hard to get along with, have expensive incidents, and otherwise are on shakey ground may be let go in order to fill those trucks with the flood of RETURNING former employees. There is a waiting list of former employees who have found that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

    I still respect the company as a whole. I think that maybe somehow i got caught up in the mix of all of this madness, I thought about sending Harold an Email but i doubt he'd even bother paying any attention to it. Too big of a company for him to worry about lil' ole me, and i'm not complaining about that -- who can blame the guy?

    Like i said, it all started with this new VP that we got. Everything was fine before her, perhaps she just got the wrong message during one of their meetings - who knows. I do know that my boss tried to defend me and keep me there, he even refused to write anything up in the computer that i ever did wrong saying that i was a good guy and it was taken care of etc. etc. Their next step was to fire him if he diddn't do as they asked.

    Undoubtedly they've been building their "case" for some-time now. But, maybe it's for the best. I do feel like being hit by that drunk woman may have been part of it, a few days later i was sent for a random drug test, which my boss said he never had to do before me, so it was slightly odd in that aspect, however the alternative to letting the drunk lady hit me was to roll the truck, or end up in a ditch -- i wish safety would've realized that i actually did them a favor by allowing her to hit me. But, with 3,000+ drivers, who's got the time or patience to worry about just one when they can just can you and put some 6 month greenhorn behind the wheel and not have to pay him for vacation time or training bonuses. =P

    That's life. I am dissapointed mostly because i know i went out of my way to do a good job for these guys, my fleet manager never had any problems with me, nor i with him, in fact we're still very good friends. We both have gone out of our way on numerous occasions to help each other out, so by no means was i ever hard to get along with, my boss on the home depot account would likely tell you the same thing. Also, i've never been fired from a job before in my life, ever. What am i suppose to tell future employers? It makes me sick to my stomach quite literally.

    Thanks for the update Rawlco, it's good to hear some facts that can be backed up and measured. Eckz that last comment was in no way directed towards you or anyone else here, just good to hear something "from the horses mouth" as Don told me earlier today in class.
