Take the 335 Loop east around town, miss all the lights and come back out on 40E at the Pilot and Petro exit on 40. Then you are just a couple of miles to the 287S exit.

If your tired enough the trains at Stratford or Hereford will bother you.
Slowmover1, bzinger and Texas Rebel Thank this. -
Guys..the reason they blow the horn at Stratford is because the Pilot is at a crossing..US 54 crosses there...how could you not figure that out?
bzinger Thanks this. -
There are numerous road crossings around the TA in Gallup...that's why the horns blow...2 longs a short and a long. They don't blow the horn for the"hell of it"...they aint truckers.bzinger Thanks this.
-
That right? I just can't recall those crossings. Especially when the bastages are headed north.
I don't stop there much though now cause of that. I'll have to look around if I go down that road. -
There is a neighborhood directly behind the TA to the east. There are a couple of roads that lead back in there that cross the tracks
-
Here I thought someone was blowing the horn because truck drivers are leaving pee bottles on the track.
wore out Thanks this. -
Yes they do it for the hell of it all the time. I can be out in the middle of nowhere and soon as a train gets near me he goes and blasts that horn trying to scare me.
-
He is right about Stratford. I know they have to do it for the traffic. The Pilot is on the corner with one track going east & west and one going north & south. I know late one night on I-40 in NM I looked out the passanger window because I saw a strange light. That was when someone blasted the horn. Scared the Sh out of me.
Texas Rebel and wore out Thank this. -
Yep. Don’t go thru all them lights if ya don’t have to. But if ya do have to, time the first one and then maintain 30 or so and you’ll roll right thru.
