So I'm at Werner orientation. Was talking to a few people. The entire company is behind on trainers. Got guys here who have been waiting since last week for a trainer. From the sounds of it I'm going to be waiting for a trainer for a few weeks. I'm ready to work. Would it be bad if I switched to a different company who wouldn't require me to be with a trainer? I have driving experience and there were a few companies that were offering me to go to work without being with a trainer. Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Not enough trainers is the story for all trucking companies. How much verifiable CDL-A experience do you have and what part of the country do you live in?

Run a way and start drivingBillStep and driverdriver Thank this.

I live in Wyoming. And I have 11 months CDL-A experience. Looking for 48 states route. Home time is no issue for me
-
Wow I'm surprised Werner would want you with a trainer with 11 months. Do you have a dinged up record? Many companies will put you right in your own truck with only 3 months.
-
I have a squeaky clean record.

Check out Jim Palmer, they're based in Missoula. I'd refer you to my company but we don't hire out of Wyoming unfortunately.tscottme Thanks this.

I'd second Jim palmer/ Wilson logistic.
They have a western 11 dry van fleet and a lower 48 otr refer division .
I did both and I enjoyed the western 11 more. Nice equipment, both tractors and trailers.
They just bumped the western 11 pay to .45tscottme Thanks this. -

No, It wouldn't be bad in any way, shape or form.
Go get rolling.
Nobody's going to blame you for not wanting to sit around for a few weeks waiting on a trainer.
