It's incredible how much Saia has expanded in the NE. I watched them grow from being nonexistent over a year ago to practically being everywhere now. Got a chance to talk to some of there drivers and they're hiring drivers left and right here. Starting pay is around $26.50 and they top out at $28.40 in 1.5 years. Haven't seen anything for Linehaul...but I would imagine it would be close to .70 cpm if they're paying City Drivers that much. Definitely someone to watch out for...that's for sure.

Yeah great pay. But cause of how they use the camera nobody wants to go there. No Bluetooth or cell phone policy. Get a suspension first offense and then next offense fired. Also any distractions and the camera gets set off you get in trouble even taking swig of a drink or eating. I couldn’t do linehaul there. Talking on the cell phone when I was butt tired saved my butt when doing linehaul many times.

Seriously? You guys really think the cameras are like that? You guys are more paranoid than a group of preppers. All the trucks 2012 and older do not have driver cameras, the 2013-2018 trucks have cameras with sensitivities that seem to vary by the truck. They will only go off when a triggering event occurs: following too close, almost getting into a wreck, breaking too hard, hitting something excessive speeding. With those trucks some of the cameras are so sensitive a pot hole will set them off others will take a wreck to set them off. The 2019 trucks got a new camera in them and the sensitivity are way down on them and they rarely ever go off.

    Why would we think otherwise?

    Right, whatever you say.

I’m sure Saia has corporate plants here, and frankly I’m not unconvinced that you’re not one of them after such posts as this.

The other has a tendency to use phrases that no driver would such as “projected outbound bill count”.

It doesn’t look particularly good for Saia when it’s employees resort to this type of behavior.

think what you will bud I'm just sharing the truth, not my fault the truth doesn't line up with your preconceived opinion of Saia.

I got it from a SAIA horse's mouth, he told me that they are very strict and firing veteran drivers for small mistakes. Practically warning me away. Happened to be the TM of a SAIA barn I was visiting.

It's a #### shame that some idiot at the top is ruining a good company. Seen it happen with other transportation companies, usually means the leadership is directionless and will follow anyone with confidence, right or wrong.

I've talked to multiple new drivers at my company that came from Saia. I'd say at least ten of them, from several different states.

To a man, the overzealous camera babysitting was cited as one of the reasons why they left

I got hired for a route to run the city for Saia about 4 or 5 months ago. All seemed great during the hiring process, although I was a bit surprised that literally 15 minutes after submitting my app on the corporate site, the TM from the local barn was blowing up my phone and extremely eager to get me in there. Went in, talked with him, told him I had several other offers at the time and he #### near begged me to hire on with him.

One of the main talking points were the cameras. He attempted to mention them off hand and did it in a apprehensive manner, which lead me to believe there were issues regarding them. I went home, did some digging and found a startling amount of posts on various forums from both former, and current employees with varying amounts of time with the company.

I continued on with the hiring process, despite a unanimous trend with the tyrannical management and camera issues. I #### you not, on my first day, I sat in the break room waiting for the TM to set up the corporate videos for me to watch. Every, and I mean EVERY single driver that came in, all of which had 10 plus years of experience, all looked to be pissed beyond belief that they had to be there. They all sat in there complaining about this and that issue, problems with corporate etc etc. I mean a real doom and gloom scenario. I declined the job and never looked back. I have a couple of buddies that work at different LTL barns, one at Estes and one at OD and they both have multiple drivers that came from Saia in the recent months, all due to the above issues.
