For the record a person being supervised by parole or probation are living according to the order of the sentencing judges or the state parole officials. All people out have general conditions they have to go by. However some have special conditions. Example is someone out for committing a sex crime must register as a sex offender on the state registry. Most POs can authorize an offender to leave the state (or district in the case of federal cases) but some can't. The major rub is the carriers are reluctant to be a baby sitter. This situation is just like most every other one in trucking. No hard and fast one size fits all answers. If you are being supervised ask your PO if you can leave and start beating the sidewalks looking for a carrier that will give you a chance. Most all carriers are desperate for otherwise qualified drivers. You have nothing to lose by searching but a little weight.

 

Don't do any "Dog Day Afternoon" and you'll be ok, and can have a successful trucking career as anyone else.

 

I was not on parole or probation when I started my journey, but I had a pretty bad criminal record, one company took a risk with me, I promised them they wouldn't regret it. I spoke to the owner personally, and he said "I am going against my gut, but I believe in second chances, please don't make me regret it." I was there for 5.5 years.
