I will have to agree with the original post that started this thread.
I wouldn' t set foot in a Food Lion store if they were giving stuff away.

Years ago I found and read up on federal laws regarding our industry. I need to find them again, make printed hard copies of the laws and present them to the reciever upon delivery. I believe if I remember the wording correctly, upon delivery of the load, the contract is fulfilled and payment is to be made immediately. Once the trailer is connected to the recievers dock via that lever that connects to the DOT bar, the trailer becomes part of the building complex and the load that is on the trailer must be signed for before it is removed from the trailer. If my memory serves me correctly, and I'm remembering what I read correctly, the reciever must sign for the load before it leaves your trailer, with that said, Why the hell would I want to pay a lumper to pull a load that they have accepted and signed for off my trailer that their insurance is forced to cover, should anything happen to it during the time it is connected to their building?..... They should be forced to eat the cost of hiring lumpers, forced to employ them as legitimate employees and take the load that they by law had to accept off my trailer in a timely manner or face the legal system for keeping me for an extended period of time and therefore costing both the carrier and the driver money. Just a thought, and as with everything, I could very easily be wrong about the law and how I remember it.

I must be doing something wrong here. I went there on 1/15 with an 8am appt. Showed up at 7:45am, in door by 8am and unloaded with bills in hand by 10am.
I went there again this past week on 1/22 with a 12pm appt time. Show up at 11:30 am and backed into a dock by 11:45am. Out the gate with bills in hand by 1:30pm.
I was expecting much worse since I know they have a reputation of taking forever at times. Of course now that I say this I'll go there again next week and be there for 8hrs.
Maybe I should have kept my trap shut lol

Same experience, what a poorly run outfit! And when I'd go into the receiving office to inquire on estimated time to finish, there'd be 2 or 3 unloaders in the office playing the fool.

I can't understand how people like that keep their jobs.

Wonder if their new years resolution was to hire more people and to get us drivers out faster. So have you been back since that post?
