Alcoa has ridiculous rules, like most companies now adays. They'd rather hand you the controls to a large overhead crane that you've never been trained to safely operate than let you get on YOUR trailer and do it the right way.

    lol

Yeah a most big companies nowadays have crazy unwieldly safety rules that make work miserable. Alcoa announced today that they were eliminating 230 jobs in their Riverdale IA plant, I might have got the name wrong but it's NOT the Davenport plant.

I posted a comment titled TMC Pay recently and how bad things has become. Well, since then. I left the company "On good terms" due to receiving a pay-check for $ 66.00 for the week. I have a completley view of this company now than I did at the beginning. I was once told at the Indy terminal that for every driver leaves, we have three (3) recruits ready to replace him. I guess experience means nothing to them.

I left on good terms and spoke to my team lead giving a two week notice. He asked me to take a load from Indy to IA, then I could bring the truck back to Indy on friday same week for release. I complied and delivered the steel coil load with no problems. I was told afterward that I had to turn the truck in to the main terminal in Des Moines. and get a bus or whatever back home to Kentucky. Another big disappointment. I just agreed and got a rental car and came home.

I have signed on with Roehl Honnor program designed for vets. I will be paid $135.50 a day no matter if have a load or not. That will be quite a bit more than I ever made at TMC. for the past month I barely made over $200.00 a week. I pulled into several truckstops while waiting for a load to discover 20+ other TMC trucks waiting for the same. I got the chance to speak with several other drivers and learned they were making the sames amount of money I was. So, all new guy's keep this in mind when speaking to a recruiter.

Good luck to all current TMC drivers, I am glad I left the company.

Is that $135/day because of the honor program, because you are experienced or just across the board? Also are you joining their national flatbed fleet?

doesn't matter. they will give you cdl training free within a year of sep, but as far as the pay program, they don't care how long ago you seperated as long as it was honorable.

if you are within 10 years of your seperation and signed up for gi bill you can enter an "apprenticeship" with most major comapnies for 2 years and draw that too.

Ok, i'm just about losing my patience here, At the beginning of employment when you recieve your prepass you're required to give a 100.00 deposit on t he unit itself, which is both fine and understandable. But, when i send the unit back within 3 days as specified, i expect to get 100.00 back. Not 73.74. They taxed it, lol.

That's the ONLY complaint i've ever had about TMC as long as i've been there. Their payroll dept sucks. If they make a mistake you better weigh your options carefully, becuase if you call them out on it theres an excellent chance that while they're trying to "fix" it, they will end up making it worse.

Another example of this is my school loan that they were supposedly paying on that also went into collections a little over a year ago because they abruptly stopped paying on it, and nobody not the school, loan provider, or TMC bothered to let me know about it.

When i called payroll ofcourse (it was my fault for whatever reason they could conjure up) this girl named Barb insisted that they would start reimburisng me and that i could forward it onto the collection agency at a rate of 150.00 per month (on the 5th of each month). I get my next check, they took 300.00 OUT instead of putting anything back on! It took me another freakin' month to get the 450.00 back from them to actually pay my first payment to the collection agency.

I'm currently waiting on hold with HR to get my last vacation check, find out the exact reason for my termination, and get the full deposit amount that i'm owed. Will let you all know how that goes. =P
