Thanks Peanut, I'm a "new" driver because I'm coming from straight trucks but I've been driving them for the better part of 8 years and a LOT of the same habits you need are key to both jobs. I'm not going to have a problem with getting through orientation or training, I'm going to have a problem deciding whether or not to stay with TMC or with the company I've been driving for for the past 7.5 years, they called me today to tell me I'm scheduled to work tomorrow. DOH!!!
Day 4 in the books. Today was the end of the classroom portion of orientation. We had a bit more paperwork to do, a bunch more videos to watch and the last few who haven't done the simulator yet will be there late tonight. We lost two more today, one popped on the whiz quiz, the other I don't know. So far of about 30 we have lost about 10. Tomorrow we start early with load securement. I'm expecting the instructors to ratchet up the attitude. One thing I really am having a problem with is the attitude TMC takes with it's drivers. They have made it abundantly clear they could not possibly care less about their drivers regardless of how long you have been driving for them. This is not a good attitude and I assume to some extent it comes from the buyers market where drivers are a dime a dozen. At any rate, I'll keep you guys posted from day to day. The wi-fi in the hotel SUCKS, and so does the reception for my Verizon air card. The hotel is nice enough although it smells like a hospital.
Peanut, good luck I really hope BN works out for you.
Just got approved at TMC

Good luck, I went through their orientation, passed everything and got hired. They fired 15 guys and another 5 quit in the 12 days. I got hired on the 16th.
I had to wait for a trainer, and yesteday they had one for me. I was leaving on this coming sunday!
Today I got called and I got fired simply because they changed their hiring areas and I was out of area.
Um? What? I was already hired.
It's BS man. Good luck with TMC, but you will learn from day one you have ZERO job security. They will always talk about how you can get yourself fired. Sooner or later your time will come. If its your fault or not. -
Day 5 in the books. Today was the first day of load securement, hauling around the tarp pushing it over the coil, classroom, more simulator. All in all a good day although we did lose 2 more drivers today, both of whom decided this was not for them. They both left by their own accord, not asked to leave. So far of about 30 we have lost 10. Tomorrow we are back in the former Schneider yard for more load securement at 6am. I'll check back in tomorrow night. Oh and I talked with my work about being called in to work today and was offered a job pulling a bulker tanker until ready mix picks up. They were really cool about the whole thing and offered to give me a month of leave to try this out at TMC. Great company, I really hope I can get back working there full time this year, last year was just to slow to stick around through the winter although I never quit and still technically work there.

Day 6 in the books.
Today we finished up the classroom portion of load securement training and got started on securing loads ourselves. Tomorrow we will be tested on how well we secure the rest of the different types of loads we have learned. I believe we also have our final tests on securement tomorrow so it's going to be a big day. Today was the first day of training where we didn't drop anyone, but I suspect that might change tomorrow after securement testing. I hope not, but it seems possible. Monday I think we start behind the wheel yard driving, we'll see when Monday rolls around. Don does a good job of explaining things the first time around and if you have any questions and don't mind taking some grief he will get your head around any questions you have. Cold front moved in yesterday and we are at a -2 wind chill right now with snow moving in tonight just in time for our yard driving. I'll keep you all updated on how training progresses. -
2nd week is when we lost the most people. The road driving thru the week you have to show continuous improvement.

To all those who either left, quit or was dismissed. Watch your D.A.C.!!
TMC listed on my dac report even though according to them I never worked
there. I never did work there and never signed anything other than initializing
the whiz quiz. I pulled my dac this weekend and they burned my dac!! So
now I'm going to have to spend a little money to get that removed or at
the very least disputed. TMC is turning out to be a real piece of work. I
could understand if I had failed the whiz quiz or left orientation by my
choice. If anyone knows much about dac or has some advice it would
be much appreciated -
From what i have been reading here it seems TMC is bogus... yu hire a guy and then turn around and fire the guy cuz he is not in the hiring area...ummmm.....
-
How, EXACTLY, did they burn it? What does it say? -
And to add to this, how did you get your DAC so quick, typically it takes 14 days and you cant get it through e-mail or such, cause ive been trying to and i had to finally mail in and it took almost 2 weeks to get it, im just wondering how you got it in such short notice

It takes that long for an individual to get a report (which is a joke). I have a very good
friend that runs a small-mid sized trucking company that got it for me.
