I would not divulge your personal information to employers. I have only ever been asked about criminal record for 2 jobs I have held (Explosives and Royal mail) Bonded US Common carriers, log haulers and dirt merchants never asked.

Here in the states, if you do NOT divulge info like that, think ie: Swift, Prime, etc ..... will bus you to orientation, and then kick you out not even politely, and leave you to WALK home if you don't have the funds to get across the U.S. on your own.

Well, the statistics say that yes, once a criminal always a criminal. For the vast majority anyway.

"An estimated two-thirds (68 percent) of 405,000 prisoners released in 30 states in 2005 were arrested for a new crime within three years of release from prison, and three-quarters (77 percent) were arrested within five years, the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) announced today."

Is the op part of that 23%? I truly hope so, but I would never trust my business on it.

Since I've been looking a lot lately as a new driver, I can say that some companies are specific and ask if you've had something in the past so many years.

Also, suggest not applying via some of the online ecruiting apps that spread your data around until you have a clearer idea of what you need to divulge.

And lastly, we've been joking in another thread about Werner hiring ex-cons, so maybe give them a jingle.

Well considering he did his time over 15 years ago yes he is part of the 23%.

    Reading for comprehension. It matters.

You can get a job driving somebody’s truck. What some of these drivers are saying is true. The small companies with 5 - 10 trucks will hire you. Many of them don’t subscribe to HireRight and just need your driving record to be clean enough for their insurance to accept you. Other than that you’re hired. The only problem I might see is the experience part. Even tiny companies want you to have some experience. It’ll be cold soon and we all know what comes with that. Owners want someone behind the wheel who knows what to do during the winter months especially. So if you can ride team for awhile with a smaller company, just to get the basics that would be great. Someone mentioned Carolina Cargo. I think they would hire you. Good luck to you
