I'm sure he was referring to SNI policy since he was showing how they control there semi Independents.
-
They don’t control me.

It was inferred ... By the way are they still requiring collision avoidance systems on outside trucks coming in?RStewart Thanks this.
-
You mean they will let an outside truck in? I thought a guy had to lease an SFI truck to get on the program.

the answer to your question is yes, it's a good logical choice. the question you are probably wanting to know is "is there enough work to pay the bills?" the answer to that question is a resounding yes. the learning curve would probably be in figuring out the best way to go about positioning yourself to successfully navigate the available freight lanes in a way that lets you consistently make your intended revenue. there are lot's of open source tips on this forum regarding how to do that. being ignorant to the business, if you go somewhere else to get dispatched, you WILL get jerked around. you might make a little more, but you're throwing yourself to the wolves that know you don't know anything, that's big risk if you aren't familiar with the arena. worst case scenario, you pull 3k miles of 1.00/mile loads and make a profit. that's absolute worst case. there's enough work if you're willing to work.Aamcotrans Thanks this.

I am hesitant to get into this conversation as I really don't know that much. I am currently an SNI company driver. I am starting my research to become an OO in Spring 19. I visited with an SNI OO a couple of months ago. He bought a truck outside of SNI and then leased on. I didn't have the presence of mind to ask about those details, wish I had. He did show me the load board though. At the time he was stressing because there wasn't a lot of great loads. The main thing I latched onto was that while the board showed what the load paid, it only showed what you would be paid not what SNI was being paid. You have to trust that you are getting the % that you are supposed to get. I don't know that I would trust SNI these days. I began working with SNI in 14 and had to leave in mid 15 for surgery on both of my legs. I recently came back because I enjoyed working for SNI. They weren't perfect but better than other companies I had worked for. Right now I am seriously regretting having come back. I hate SNI now. They have changed so much. They preach that you are the "captain of the ship", but they don't trust or allow you to make any decisions on your own. I have had my butt chewed twice since coming back for hard braking critical events caused by the collision avoidance system that I have no control over. The first was a bridge the system reacted to. The 2nd was a vehicle on an off ramp while I was in the left lane. Despite both glitches my boss laid the blame at my feet. In general I don't think SNI is a good company, and I wouldn't advise anyone, company or OO, to come work here. They don't care about you. Your a # and there are a thousand drivers to replace you.
RStewart and driverdriver Thank this. -
How in the world is he going to make as profit at $1.00 a mile? Even with a paid off truck he's not going to profit as at $1.00 a mile. It cost me $1.22 a mile to run my truck and my payment is only $0.17 of that.

Wtf are parts dropping off of your truck on the way down the roadAamcotrans Thanks this.
