Are the rates really rising like I've been seeing talk of? What peaked my interest, is a company contacted me out of the blue that I applied to about 4 or 5 months ago to haul frac sand via pneumatic. They are based in Oklahoma and are currently running in Oklahoma only, which I see little talk of around here. No eld's, as they run time cards. They offer the standard 25% to start, and are guaranteeing 1850 minimum per week with ability to make up to 2500 if you don't slack etc. W2, no 1099 no sense, nice equipment, quick 1 day orientation and you're set loose. I hadn't entertained the idea in some time, but them coming out of the blue has me curious again, if it's worth trying to make any money in the patch at this point as a company driver?
I know the work is dirty, you sleep in a truck and you're gone for 3 weeks at a time and overall it's not the most pleasant of experiences (at least for everyone that's in West Tx, not sure about Oklahoma scenery) but all that aside, the money sounds nice compared to my current local salary, (heavily weather dependent) and if I could get steady checks like that for at least 6 months or in that ball park, my family and I could get ahead quite nicely financially. I know nothing is promised out there, but that would be my goal. By the way I purposely left out the name of said company to avoid the thread going off track. I'm realistic about this oil field stuff so I'm not blinded by the POTENTIAL to make $$$, as I'd save all of it and not blow it. Just curious about the offer and the reality of the patch currently with the increase in rates supposedly. Any opinions are appreciated as they're trying to get me into orientation at 8am Wednesday morning.
What's it like?

I ran a little in OK over a year ago. , Ran LPG stuff from Tulsa down to Baton Rouge. Roads in both states were crappy lol -
I guess Ok is better than west tx, was out there most of last year - blows mightily -
THe way they talking its picking up so I'd say give it a shot - Good LuckTheyCallMeDave Thanks this. -
Do they pay stand by time (demurge)? How do they handle break downs? Are you sitting in a truck along some dusty lease rd with no A/C for 12 hours waiting for a service truck or do they bring you out a loaner truck? If you do anything, at least talk to some current drivers(for that company) and see what's up, if there is an empty truck there is a reason why. You can make good $$ but it's not as good or easy as it was years ago.
