I talked to a system driver and trainee last year at a place in Indiana picking up shingles, slips my mind.

They loved it. They had a brand new KW and it was nicely taken care of. But i believe they were paying percentage at the time. 35CPM doesn't seem like much, did they change it?

Alright trucker fans ..... Day 1 is in the books .... as usual we did the drug screen, road test, and physical ability test and passed them all. Whuuu. I always get nervous at test then I jump in and go first or second and things seem to workout once you start to do it. We have 12 in the class, 11 of us or here for System and one for JJ Williams. 4 of the 10 are experienced drivers and the rest (including me) are newbies. Like in most groups, there is always one guy that complains about EVERYTHING. Oh well. It appears this is the third company he has been with too. I wonder why? Tomoorow is another day and one day closer to getting out with my trainer. Till then keep the rubber side down.

Day 2 is in the books. It was a day filled with videos and tests covering defensive driving, adjusting brakes, and FMCSA stuff. Payroll came bye (love payroll) and HOS came bye too. Today was a long day but tomorrow is around the corner so it is all good. We also went over the training program and got our training syllabus for the eight week training period. Tomorrow, dispatch willing, I will get my trainer and we will be off. By chance, I got to see a guy from my school that is here at System who is also going through the training program. He is in week 3 of his program and things are going well for him. He is getting lots of wheel time and is liking the program. That was encouraging to hear. Depending on what happens tomorrow I will hopefully be able to give an update, if not I will do so at my earliest convenience. Till then, keep the rubber side down.

Day 3 and the beginning of week 1.

Finished out orientation on Wednesday at about 3:30. My trainer was there waiting for me and ready to go. So I loaded up my stuff and we got out of Dodge. We were under a load that delivered in Kent, WA and then Portland on Thursday. He drove and finished out the day and we talked about what was ahead for me. We went over the ground rules and talked about what I wanted out our time together. I will say this, the guy is a solid trainer and so far so good. We got to the delivery location and shut it down for the night.

Today we made our delivery about 2 hours early and then we were on our way to Portland hoping we would be able to get the delivery taken care of today and not tomorrow. I drove out and drove all the way to Portland. Still trying to master the art of floating the gears. I have to fall back to double clutching at times but it is coming along. We made it to the second drop and unfortunately we were not going to get unloaded today. So we dropped the trailer in their yard and head over to the J for the night.

We got our pre-plan for the next load today as well. We will pick up in Portland and, unfortunately, deliver to Spokane on Monday. So I will get to spend the weekend at the terminal, maybe a motel, before we move on. Nice thing though about this delivery is, I will get to watch the Super Bowl.

That's it for now. Keep the rubber side down and I will follow later.
