Don't blame the megacarriers for forcing people to run illegal. They don't. I drive for a megacarrier and it is hammered over and over again, "Logit now and log it legal." The ones who lie on logs the most are independent o/o who do it, as was stated, to make money.

to pawpaw and rickg thx for the responses, but as i have said...if i don't bend the rules at times then my check would be bubkus(nothing).
and the newbies do read whats up in the posts but decide to dive in anyway...i also meant the tv ads that say you can make upto 80g's in 3 weeks by going to our school....hey for the unemployed and homeless...this can appear to be a real blessing.

I agree nobody is "forced" . It's the driver's decision . If carriers audits logs responsibly and prohibit false logs as you say the don't get a SafeStat history like this . This is U.S. Xpress . Note the Safety Management SEA for the first 2 quarters of '07 . The enforcement in 12/06 was for log book falsification . This audit was done shortly after U.S. Xpress cosigned the Speed Limiter Petition .

The majority of the carriers will claim they want legal running. I know they want legal logs. The dispatch and load planners want to plan the loads at 55 mph and allow 15 minutes for fuel. Anything else is not in the picture.

I think they need to be educated on the real world of the trucking industry.

ok lets get it straight .."forced" as a personal decision to make money in a moneyless enviroment working for a carrier that doesn't give a rats arse about your safety/wellbeing/happiness.....so lets get this straight for the last time.

I know where you are going to. I have stood my ground on the running of legal and they have given me short runs and little miles for the week.

it's called being spanked for doing the honest thing, ok so you can't make the run(s)
then you can sit, or take little dumpy loads...or bend the rules and get 3+ loads that will offer you something that resembles a paycheck....
if you work for a company that you don't need to do this then thats great,we will cheer you on as you swim in the "gravy"..but some of us out here are rats on a hook,
you do it or you sit on the sidelines watching the other rats feed..........
    thats the way it is.
plus thanks to some companies putting eroneous and untruthfull info on our dacs, we are stuck here at the bottom feeder part of the industry untill someone
takes us on knowing that dac is mostly all lies and just a way for them to "blackball" you in this industry.

You made it straight a long time ago . You have no respect for regulations . All you care about is making more money - like that Crete driver that killed 7 kids . It's only a moneyless environment for drives that choose to work for the bottom feeders .

Rick, you have stated your opinion on the company, Crete, and their part in the accident. You now work for a good company. I know that there are many firms that do not work the way yours does.

If you look at the Safestats you will see the proof. I recently talked to a company that is relatively small with a good safestat. The safety/recruiter stated they want the logs run legal, but the loads have to be delivered.
