You don't want to be responsible for a loaded trailer sitting in front of or near your house, unless you can park on your 10 acre spread. especially a cold load. A break in or a tow/impound is hard to explain to mgmt. just some friendly advice....

I did it one time when I just started out and didn’t know any better...got home late Friday night by Saturday morning around 7 or so they blew up my phone saying the plant is going to shut down production if you don’t get the load there now. So I just grit my teeth and took it then when I got there it took 3 hours to get off loaded. Yeah they really needed it lol...just be careful companies like to play games like that. When they tried to get me to hook a loaded trailer again for hometime I said nope see you Monday they eventually got the hint. Load planners and dispatchers like to think there crap doesn’t stink and can push people around don’t put up with it. You have a cdl and it’s a drivers market out there don’t take crap from anyone. Best of luck

This thread reminds me of 1978 when I received news that my mother died. I was an owner operator leased to R-W Service System (now defunct). The Daleville terminal would not give me an empty trailer so that I could start out from home in Michigan after the funeral without deadheading back to Daleville, Indiana. So, I agreed to take a load to Chicago on my way to Michigan. The load of TV picture tubes (remember those?) turned out to be overweight causing the dodging of scales. I finally made it to the funeral, but I was worn out. I think that I had to bobtail back to Chicago to get back in service. Management couldn't care less.
