So when he made the post you responded to, you felt like he was talking to you personally?

Mind your own bobber is a fishing reference. Means mind your business.

He put it out on a discussion forum, for discussion. I respectfully discussed it with him. You don’t like it? That’s cool, say it, but say it with some respect. Otherwise, mind your own bobber, bobber.

I know I'm getting screwed but I live out in the country and I don't need much money, also I stand up for myself and don't let dispatchs push me around, I've heard stories where companies just fire you. So I know we are currently experiencing a driver shortage and I will use that to me advantage. It's forced dispatch but I pick my loads and I fight with dispatch, take leave when I want, so I feel pretty good. I know my company is in a pickle and I love that. Therefore I'm actually enjoying my job. It's sad they had to be in trouble retention wise for them.to start waking up and treating ppl better. Well they have no choice lol.

If there is a company that pays at least 800$ a week, I drive 1500miles, 34 is spent at home weekly and will allow me to miss work occasionally to go to my VA doctors appointments let me know. They got to have new trucks and good communication if I brake down as well.

i started with werner, very first driving job. i would have been on a dollar dedicated account. i did the otr training period, tested out and was going to be assigned a truck. i went for home time before accepting a truck, after being gone 8 weeks from my house, wife and kids. i never went back for that truck, i was homesick and had my fill. i went for hometime and took a local trucking job..... i never gave up on driving but i decided not to do OTR. my first local job was driving a fertilizer tender truck, but the job got rained out constantly, i was working 2-3 days a week. i ended up driving dump truck for the rest of that summer, and actually really enjoyed that work. i stuck with dump truck until the season ended, and then ended up with walton milk hauling shortly there after. i make that $1,000+ that everyone talks about making. except, im home everyday and i actually work 6am- when ever im done (usually 4pm is a LATE day). im driving a milk tanker. the loads are heavy, 18 speed transmissions, and challenging farmers driverways. i have been able to hone skills WITHOUT leaving home, without screwing up my MVR...... in fact my license is squeaky clean. i was recently able to put a new roof on my house CASH no debt from the roof. i spent all of my money on the roof so im going to work some 7 day weeks to build up my savings account again faster. i am thinking every other week 7 days for a while. heck i am home at a good time. that's $1,200 gross and parking my butt on my own couch with my own kid at night. i own a home, OTR made no sense i would be paying for a home i wouldnt be living in.

he has me doing allot of training. right now i have someone on my truck that moved from texas. he has 10 years of OTR experience but he let his med-card lapse so now he has to take the road test all over again. it has been 2 years since he is last driven. i have been helping him get back into the seat, and get used to an 18 speed, something he has never done before. he said i drive really quite well. i have had other people in my truck that have been driving longer then me, all have said i hold my own just fine.

i have absolutely no regrets. im making $55-$60K this year, im home everyday, and while the driveways can be a challenge they are nothing like the stupidity that was likely to screw up my career....... dedicated dollar accounts. not going back for that truck was the BEST thing i ever did...... i have a truck, its walton milk hauling #51.

Well like I said, I could make more money somewhere else probably but I can't find those jobs, lol. I'm home once a week sometimes 2 days a week, I'm the boss even though my Dispatcher and fleet manager claim they are. What I mean by this is , I doubt Dispatcher and fleet manager get better at higher pay company if anything they probably expect more from you. I can argue with my Dispatcher and 99% of the time I get my way. Fact of the matter is no one likes companies like Werner and I get it so I'll stick around and reap the benefits of being part of a company that can't afford to lose drivers.

The Dollar General guys roll in sleepers, they arent home everyday. A lot of my pickups are next to Dollar General stores. I will occassionally see them parked out back or out front overnight right along with me.
