Getting ready to go to school for my CDL. Got a pre-hire from Gordon and haven't even started school yet. I know they are a #### good company so I have no doubts about driving for them. But, I am also seriously considering Maverick. I know they're on a hiring freeze right now, but if that freeze ends before I start with Gordon, I may still consider driving for Maverick. Can anyone tell me if they are as good as they are made out to be? I know about the orientation and training pay. Any Maverick drivers have problems getting miles or getting loads delivered on time having to tarp everything? Tell me anything you can about the company please. Thanks.

    Things you should know...

A pre-hire is not a job offer. It is an offer to look at your application upon completion of school. Then bring you to orientation, if you survive that phase. Then they train you. Then, if you pass training. You get a job.

Hmmmm, okay. But a pre-hire, is not an offer of employment. It's an offer to take a look at your credentials.

And your company may consider a trainee as an employee. But a lot of companies don't. Just ask here in the forum, how many are getting paid, while waiting on a trainer.

A few companies DO pay their "employees" to wait on trainers.

Thanks but I was asking for information on Maverick. I know what a pre-hire is and I know what I need to know about Gordon, but I'm trying to get some good info on Maverick, preferably from current drivers, so that I can consider them as well as Gordon.

not talking about a pre-hire. That's what you are before you're brought into Orientation. You are hired, officially, the final day of orientation. I understand you are paid if you have to wait on a trainer, but that it doesn't happen that often (that you have to wait)
