Floida,no hope in sight

    Well things are getting bad for me,I was planing on moving back up north but money ran out.So im here in sw florida jobless.Every company I called says there not hiring drivers fron florida right now.:biggrin_25510:I even called swift but not hiring in my area.I had a job line up in pa,but something came up at the worse time.So my quiestion is does any one know who may be hiring drivers from florida?

    Any help would be great.

    Where are you in florida. And how much experience do you have? I know alot of little trucking companies in florida.

    Im in bradenton 40 miles south of tampa.I have 10 months experince.The only thing is I been off the road for a while.

    Yeah that usually a little to far south for the bigger companies. Most companies i know are up by starke, Lake city, lake butler and in ocala. But most want 2 years . Did you look into Werner. Not a good company but they would prolly retrain you and they have a terminal in lakeland fl which isnt that far from you.

    Yeah figur that.I got my start at werner,sat most of the time instad of driving.The most driving I did was I was with a trainer.So I got lucky and found an o/o driving for a major moving company.Got lay off and been lookin since.Thanks anyway.

    OK.... I have somebody you can call. Remember, your experience is less then ideal. But get in over here, get your miles up, and move the heck out of Florida. Oklahoma is a great place to be a trucker. Call Lester Coggins in Okahumpka. They will hire from your area and with your experience level.

    Florida is tough. Seems fl is like the black plague in the trucking market right now. Looks like things are going to start on the up turn mid feb to march. Companies are starting to hire again but the competition is fierce since so many drivers are out of work. It seems without a twic card and hazmat , florida is impossible. Since you only have 10 months exp and it has been awhile since you last drove, it will be even harder. Good luck.

    You can try Cypress, better then nothing. They are out of JAX, but they use to have a terminal in Tampa

    yup, i have a preplan after i deliver in groveland tomorrow. deadhead almost 400miles to augusta:biggrin_2554:
