Let’s be real. They said that was the cause of the crash. But it could have been anything else that might have been over looked. Health issue, fell asleep, lost control, etc.

Added weight on the steers, with the car on top of the cab.

Many run a smaller diameter tire on the steer. Turns faster which equals more heat, then factor in 13000 to 14000 lbs avg on the steer.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I haven't driven a car hauler. I question whether running a smaller diameter tire would meet the standard for weight rating. Aren't you supposed to run a tire that meets the weight rating?

Yes even though they are smaller they are more plys. The go to for some now is a 295/65/22.5. Pretty sure they are 18 ply rated at just over 7000 lbs per tire single. Car hauling you are always fighting height and weight in some cases. I personally run a standard low pro 22.5 on my steer but is 16 ply. Good for 7100 per tire single.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Thanks for that info. If I weren't running flatbed I would haul cars. That's some interesting work you do.

    sxdime Thanks this.
