Saw this in an abandoned mill yard yesterday.Intothesunset, nonsense007, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -
I am certain that the JB Hunt fleet had trouble with them, not deploying by themselves, but lo and behold the average JB Hunt driver couldn't not follow the simple instructions on their proper use. Example:
If the steps were full of ice, the motor would prevent their full deployment. The instructions told the driver to use the switch provided to prevent deployment, they ignored it. In other words you could not be stupid with the option. I can see why you left JB Hunt, you realized who you were working with.
There are many cool options that are not ordered or disabled on fleet trucks, 13 speed transmissions that are plumbed for 9 speeds for example. That is why an truck with "owner-operator specs" sells for a premium. And the vast majority of cabovers sold were fleet specs, is it any wonder they were universally despised.. -
And if you’ve seen any of the YouTube videos involving Argosys in the land of Oz,They run their trucks harder, faster and longer than we do here in the states. And the trucks down there aren’t even breaking a sweat!
Freightliner advertisements here the States say “Run Smart”- in Australia they say “Run Tough”-and they mean it!!!Last edited: Jul 15, 2018

Hope you like mine? It’s runs good,I ❤️ it !Gearjammin' Penguin, kemosabi49, stayinback and 2 others Thank this. -
drove quite a few cabovers in the day but by far the worst riding truck and generally the worse overall truck was a gmc general which was a conventional. .... the old ford cabovers where by far the highest truck ever made your head was pretty much at the top. .... can see better and get around better in a cabover

This Freightliner was the last cabover I drove back in '92. This truck had air ride cab adjusted for a very soft ride. I liked it! 60 Series . They were a great truck and lots of room for kids on road trip.
Pic taken in Omaha after spending a day with my kids at the Henry Doorly Zoo, the indoor rainforest was too cool!Intothesunset, cabovercrazy, kemosabi49 and 4 others Thank this. -
Lately I’ve been seeing a few of the Mexican carriers running older International cabovers around Laredo. Apparently they know a good thing when they see it.

I purchased a 1984 International CO9670 with a BC III 400, 13 speed trans, air ride rear, air ride seat and spring ride front end, and cab. From clutch back, ,100% complete. Rear-seal forward, not so much, but working on it. I have no idea how many miles are on this motor but she runs perfect and the truck rides like nothing I have ever drove, not to mention, straight. It needs a lot of little things fixed, replaced or rebuilt. Look forward to getting my Own Authority with this no cruise or Jake Brake truck... Can't wait.

Send us some pics. We love trucks that are works in progress. Any idea where you plan to run?
