If I can get 7 or 8 miles across the country with my radio I am happy. I used to run an old big Palomar 500 way back in the day. It finally went down and I couldn't find anyone decent to work on it. Power and ground leads looked like battery cables lol. So I bought a 250 galaxy with high drive on it. Never was real happy with it. I wonder where it's at these days LMAO.
Ain't much traffic on the radio any more

Skip’s been rolling pretty well recently so I want to work it now that they swapped to a newer truck on me and I could set everything up. If you find that galaxy or palomar take it to Ray’s by the Petro in West Memphis, he used to build amps and is very good. His prices are quite reasonable too.cke, OLDSKOOLERnWV, BigBob410 and 13 others Thank this.

Today went well......not ! Didn't get out of bed till 9 am. Walked outside and a wall of heat slapped me in the face. Was going to tinker on monster and do some cleaning and paperwork......just done the paper work part. Fired up my redneck apu and climbed in the cab to do paperwork. The tinkering and cleaning can wait some other time !

I like that a lot. There’s a lot of threads about the Cascadias and the antenna problems they have. I should have known you’d be the guy to figure it out.cke, Zeviander, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 11 others Thank this.

@Ruthless
So remember the oven/sauna thing?
California is THE oven. Stand outside my truck on the phone, can’t even with the wind blowing nothing but a hot blast of air in my face.
Even the wind sucks in California...
Can’t wait to drop these machine parts tomorrow and hopefully GTFO of Cali before tomorrow night.cke, Zeviander, Shock Therapy and 14 others Thank this. -
Gotta give some credit to the Cascadia antenna solutions thread to see where most went wrong. I started from the ground up, went to Ray’s and got the heavy duty door mirror mount, 6 foot skip shooter, 18 feet of coax and a heavy duty four bolt mirror bracket all for $100 ish. Installed the mount and made sure bolts were good and tight, tiled the 6 foot antenna about 10-15 degrees to where it’s vertical at road speeds, adjusted the tip by extending it out .5 an inch and got 1.2-1.3 swrs from 20 to 40.
Running a heater always helps with the ground since it’s wired to the battery that is also grounded, and as long as the input and output tune are good on the box, reflect should be pretty low. Some people say they can’t run power in a Cascadia because it intereferes with the computer, probably due to cheap coax or insufficient ground/ RFI proximity to ecm.
My radio probably doesn’t look the cleanest on a scope (limiter cut, volted finals) and would be a good candidate for interference , but it is so loud and clear and doesn’t mess with any electronics. (It’s a General Lee from Radioactive, who everyone calls a hack, but that’s the baddest radio I’ve ever owned and everyone else says so too). I’m not going to the trouble to bond the doors, cab etc since it’s a company truck, as long as it works dx I will leave it be. I’m not savvy on antennas resonance, velocity, etc, I just know how to wire them up, ground them and make them talk far, LOL.Zeviander, Shock Therapy, johndeere4020 and 10 others Thank this. -
So it sounds like another blitz this week. Arkansas is also cracking down on speed this week. No tolerance is what come up on that Facecrack thing. So 9th gear and keep my book up ta date. Shouldn't be a big deal

So come Tuesday when you post a pic from the shoulder of the highway with the flashing lights in the mirror, we shouldn’t feel sorry for ya, cuz dangit, you knew better. Lol.
Pretty sure 9th will still get ya in trouble with them 3:36’s, won’t it?cke, Zeviander, 4mer trucker and 14 others Thank this. -
A man is respected by how he treats others, not what he owns. Been a few times on life's highway I had to take a step back. Most of us have stumbled at some point, and it has made us stronger in the future.
My great grandfather when in a tight spot would say.... Before I let it get me down, I'll whittle me out a wooden bill and pick #### with the chickens.
Don't be afraid to whittle out that bill, I have at some point in life, most of us have, that's what made us stronger. Chin up young feller!!cke, Zeviander, 4mer trucker and 15 others Thank this.
