Your ignorance is amazing! It is completely beyond my comprehension. DO you really have any idea what you are trying to say? Everything you say is based on what somebody else runs, what your CB guy told you and now your friend in TX. Yet, we show you proof time after time.......and you ignore it......
I asked this radio section be put here so I could help lighten the confusion and enlighten the ignorant. Buck-O there is no enlightenment for you. You are doomed to live in ignorance.

Gadfly,
You truly amaze me. You answered that much better then I did or could.
Very good post! -
BTW,
Petro, and Pilot still sell the Galaxy 949 and 959 type radios. These are legal, type accepted CB radios. -
Every now and again, someone will come in and assert that "they are selling export radios all over the place" when a truck stop/dealer has already been warned about selling them. I would betcha that the radios drivers are seeing are the Galaxy 949-959 which, indeed, are certified "CB" Radios and quite legal to use. There is no issue with these radios. If you see a radio that has "band" switches, echo, "roger beep (ugh!)", chances are it is illegal to sell. *IF* dealers are continuing to sell the "export" radios either thru ignorance or stubbornness, then it is only a matter of time before they get hit with a large FINE. FCC does give people a chance to correct their ways! Ignore their warnings, those dealers WILL regret it; it is only a matter of time! (See Pilot Travel Centers and Love's Travel Stops) It is at that time they start begging "OH Please, Please, reduce that fine". Too late then! FCC's Special Counsel for Amateur Enforcement has said, "You just can't regulate STOOPID"!
You see, REAL Amateur radios do not look like a CB, they do not have chrome faces, they don't have "band" switches to cover ONE band, do not have "channels", and they are not normally sold in truck stops and travel centers. There are dedicated Amateur radio stores such as Ham Radio Outlet and Amateur Electronic Supply that cater to the Amateur market just like CB shops and truck stops cater to truckers!~ The dealers and importers know that, in CB radio, there is always the desire for "extra" channels and more power than the law allows, and the moniker "Amateur" radio appeals to the fellow that wants people to say, "LOOKEE at ME, I've got this BIG radio with 200 "channels" and you ain't got one!:smt033 It's all about bragging rights and being this BIG, BAD radio operator.
Trouble is, it is against the law to SELL such radios that don't have FCC approval, and it is against the law for anyone to transmit on any frequency without a license (CB has "blanket" FCC authority for users so long as they obey the rules! If we believe it is OK to talk on the 10 Meter band, then why don't drivers install a police radio in their truck and see how long THAT lasts! Those who want to use OTHER than CB radio may, and are encouraged to vie for the Amateur license where all the things you want with the obsolete venue of CB is waiting in Amateur Radio. You'll like what you find, and once having passed the test and have that callsign in your wallet, you will have a feeling of achievement!@ It sure keeps one company on those long, lonely drives in your truck!!

Didn't Pilot just pay out a bunch of money for selling these ilegal radio's? I hadn't heard any other truckstops, but I would not doubt they did or will soon anyway.
Flying J was in trouble a while back for something with the FCC over their instore television commercials.
But anyway yea death to the ilegal radio's.....:smt033:smt065 -
