oooppsss!!
i just got finished talking to a nother driver down here at CnB, and he has been here 10 months now, when he first started he left after 6 months, and tried out 2 other companies. i wont get into detail abou any of that, but he ended up comming back cause he was treated pretty much like a NUMBER at the other 2 he was at. but anyway, the one company he worked for pulled reefers, he hated every second of it... i happend to mention to him that we have a few of our own.... woopps!! he was not happy to hear that.
so let me clear it up for all newbs to the company.
WE HAVE REFERS.... there, job well done to for me...
seriouly, we do have them, and you wont pull one very often, but times can/WILL change, so just prepared. and if you have never pulled on.. call in and tell them you never have, and tell them you have concerns about the operation of these lovely trls. they will tell you what you need to no.

Brad: They dont discriminate as a miles go, it doesnt matter if you financed your school or paid cash, you are a driver. You will get loads if you are in an area where there are loads, as time goes on, your track record will speak for itself and then you may be longer and tighter time schedules if you have proven you can do it.

As far as refers go: its not the same thing as those companies that pull refers all the time. Those guys are generally going to grocery warehouses which is different than delivery beer, I wouldnt even classify them in the same group.

 

I like that idea, I have found a couple of unsecured networks out there, only problem I had was that I wasn't close enough to get a decent signal... just my luck I suppose

 

yeah joe, i agree, u may not get as close as u would like, but you can end up in some nice area with the wi-fi. also, most of the rest areas are now adding wi-fi free of charge as well.

Minus, im an OTR driver now, i pretty much go where they tell me to go. how are you liking it so far??

 

...and there are a few truck stops that have free wi-fi. The Conoco on I70 in Green River, UT is one, and they generally have parking available even if you get in late... of course it is in the middle of nowhere, so that might be why

 

Does anyone know how strict W/S is on school financing? I don't have any credit cause I pay cash. I have a couple of doctor bills on my credit that I have been unable to pay. Roxie told me that I was responsible for my transportation to Missoula too so i'm beginning to think this is going to be very expensive. I found a couple of flights through travelocity from Birmingham Al to Missoula for about $300 which isn't too bad. I'm already prehired with USA so if I can't scrape up enough money for W/S I may be headed to USA

 

I read in another post of yours that you said you were trained with an automatic transmission and don't know how to drive with a manual. There is another person that posted and said W/S turned her down because she was trained on an automatic. I would check and see if this is true before scheduling the long trip to Missoula unless you are going through the 30 day training instead of the 10 day.

 

You have to have a credit score of something like 630. The credit score system is stupid, but the bank they're financing through will not do manual underwriting.

I don't know how they're doing it now, but two months ago, they paid the equivalent of a bus ticket to get you to Missoula. ie. they'd buy a bus ticket or if you buy a plane ticket or something, bring a receipt and they'll cut you a check for the cost the bus ticket would have been.

 

The dispatchers don't know how you paid for your training. The only people who know are training (they take your money) and payroll (they reimburse you ).

If you're willing to run, the dispatchers will take care of you. If you're a jerk, expect to sit in Santa Fe Springs fussing about the lack of miles with all the other jerks. With that said, there's more sitting in SFS now than there was a month ago period, but there are some people who just always seem to be sitting... We just can't figure out why...

A little tip: If you refuse to run East, or refuse to run West, or refuse to run Canada, etc, and you're complaining about miles, the dispatchers have NO sympathy for you. I've sat in dispatch in Missoula and listened to them talk about such drivers. They'll find you something eventually, but they have loads to move, and if you won't go where that load is going, they're going to find someone for that load before they look for something for you.
