What do y’all say, move the 5th wheel up a couple of notches and run it?
I’ve got a blanket for TN, so I’m not worried about that, but haven’t run heavy in GA in a long time.

5th wheel up a few notches would spread the weight but you're over. Good luck. This week is safe driver week, they're yanking people into the scales at record rates. I went through GA not long ago and the scales were hot.

Do you have a functional APU on board?

    stwik and Oldironfan Thank this.

240 lbs is likely not a real big deal. I’d go with your idea.

    You weigh with full tanks?

If you have an APU you should get some extra on the 80k.

Move your fifth wheel ahead 2 notches and go. How much fuel you got on when weighed?

    Woodys and Oldironfan Thank this.

1/2 tank of fuel. The truck is now sitting at our yard, so I can dump all my extra chains and whatnot and think I can get under gross. Don’t know if I can get the axles perfect though, there is nothing more I can do to the trailer tandems.

I could just permit it, but we are moving this same load 4 times from Nashville to Atlanta and back, during the next few months. Just don’t want to go with the aggravation of permits if I don’t have to.

I think every tandem notch is roughly 300 lbs? Unless nose is "Doublestacked",then maybe no hope for "sliding it out". That Georgia is scary? Brings back memories of "Deliverance",watching Burt Reynolds ,act "Rugged " in a scuba top? WTF was that about? Unless youre "born and bred there,Cousin of the Prosecutor etc...Never shown much "leniancy" there.Couple hundred pounds ...if you can" burn off some fuel" or "slip thru" at 2am. May be OK.JMO

Yep 5th up. And losing 60 gallons of fuel will bring you too legal

Get your drives as close as you can and you should be fine, don't know if Mr DOT would see it my way though.

Slide some of it forwards and play the fuel game.
