Seriously, the DD drives better for m3. I've driven isx and n14s, too. The non variable geometry turbo, either the simple one on the early ones or the nonsymetrical one on the Evolution just don't have as many issues.
The early 60 series before EGR, drove about the same, but didn't have the low end driveability of a DD 15.Brickwall and Oldironfan Thank this. -

Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I have ddec 2 11.1L. If I don't pull down to a minimum of 1300 while in the hill's, I have to wait for the truck to slow roughly 3.5-4mph before I can get to the next lowest gear. Eaton Fuller 9 speed. Engine is also limited @1800..Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Bean Jr. and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

Roger that. It's kinda annoying, but I'd rather not damage my money maker. So in OD I'd pull down to about 57mph @1400. Problem is @1800 in direct is only 53mph, so I have to coast down 4mph just a to get in direct. Then slow another 3mph or so because I don't want to run above 1700. Mental note taken..

Series 60 way cheaper to rebuild. Lots of aftermarket parts.
