    Good post.

    FLEECE purchase is NEVER a good idea. I hope I wasn't unclear about that.

    When you get your freight from the same guy that holds the note on your truck bad things almost always do happen and you end up with out your truck.     I should know, I lost a nice truck and $30,000.

    Go with Select Trucks from Freightliner. $1000 down and they would probably finance you with a good lease agreement.

    I know a local company that wants O/O teams to run from DFW - Chicago and back. They state specifically they will take any big truck that runs regardless of age. And I still know the guy with the older truck for 10k hmm...

    Buy a truck outright or through a outside finance company. You and your hubby are already behind the 8 ball so to speak. Why make it harder on yourselves.

    I myself looked into Landstar and various others. I was going to lease on with Landstar but I didn't like the favoritism I saw from the agents. Also all the deductions and no fuel or part discounts swayed me. I really like Schneiders Choice program. If I want a load I just point and click it on the load board...no calls and no hassles.

    Basically what I am saying is check into buying a truck outright and look into Schneider. After you two have been an o/o for a year you can switch to the Choice program and control every aspect of your business (NO DISPATCHER...every drivers dream). Even though threre isn't much team freight on the board over here, I would love it if my wife could come with me just to keep and eye out for the next load.

    PS If what Schneider did was against a federal law hows come you don't take them to court. If you feel so wronged by them then you need to take a stand. More people need to stand up for what they believe in. Cause if you don't you'll fall for anything (thanks got out to Arron Tippin for that line).

    That quoted line is exactly why I have vehemently refused to work for Schneider. I did make a stand. I fought tooth and nail challenging it at every level. I had two of the dallas ops people, and some other higher up that I talked to at the Schneider facility. They basically told me their decision was final and that I was not welcome at Schneider. Now or ever, was the general feel I got because I asked then point blank what if I went a head and went through training with someone else. I gave them every opprunitity as far as I am concerned.

    I then followed through on my threat and contacted the ADA whom referred me to the Equal Employmnet Opportunity Commission whom I filed a report with and whom presued it from there.

    So it is my reasoning, that even should I wish to swallow my very large amount of pride and apply for Schneider I would be auto black flagged in their system.

    Here is another suggestion, which is kinda what I did.
    Look for an o/o or private individual that is wanting to sell there rig and see if they would be interested in a personal contract, where you run the truck and make the payments on the truck or payments to them for a set amount until its paid off paid.

    My deal was I had a friend of family that had two trucks and was about to loose them because he couldn't make payments on both, and couldn't keep good drivers in one while he drove the other. So I offered to buy one. He gave me a choice on which one of the trucks I wanted and all he wanted was enough money each month to pay for that trucks payment, and when I paid it off it was mine, free and clear.

    So I bought a 1994 379 pete exthood, 63 sleeper, 13 speed, all options for $20 G and that was in 1997.

    Good for you. IMHO, this is an outstanding choice, and I think you'll be a lot happier getting your truck this way rather than one of the Fleece Purchase deals. Pics?
