    That $3k wasn't as bad as the $4300 it cost to replace this turbo:

    Oh, and that's just the part. My boss, his son, and I still had to put the new one on. That junk turbo pictured above wasn't even worth a core credit.

    Tonight It is back in the shop. I noticed that I was going through Oil after the Turbo was swapped out. Blowing it right out the Dip stick. Also I can't maintain air pressure under 1000 RPMs

    That turbo just looks like it got to hot and the gasket let go (maybe from the exhaust manifold being cracked, seen it happen). Which in turn creates a cutting torch affect.

    Wiseguy, do you mean you can't hold boost pressure or the actual air tank pressure? To lose air tank pressure and have oil blown out the dipstick would mean that the crank case is being pressurized by the air compressor and they shouldn't of been near that with the turbo change. I have heard of guys pressurizing the crank case with boost pressure, but that was from the liners getting basically sand blasted.

    There is a High pressure line between the Waist gate valve and the Turbo supplied by the compressor and that is the one that was broke when they put the new ones in. right near the fitting. Somehow that put pressure into the crank, But they fixed it last night. Blows my mind how it works.

    No, there was absolutely no oil coming out of that thing. Had a whole lotta black smoke coming out the stack, though.
    That's exactly what it was. The truck was in to get a new manifold (the center section) to replace the cracked one.

    Also, about two months ago the air cooler had a big ol' hole in it. Ran it like that for two weeks before the boss finally replaced it. I'm sure that didn't help things any.

    Correction, that air line is under the Waste gate, it is a braided line and the old one had been pinched. Just ran a few hundred miles, and no oil leaks, nor air leaks..... Yee Haw! Took the truck to the wash, looks a lot better without all that oil down the side of the Trailer! Engine was steam cleaned also. Nice to see all that Oil from the last few days GONE!

    You shoulda left the oil strewn about. Then when you get pulled over you coulda said. What oil leak officer i dont know what your talking about. That woulda been funny. Then again maybe im the only one that likes to play games with the DOT for fun. So far its only been cool guys that know how to take a joke and have a little fun. Havent run into complete ### yet.

    Don't want to give them any reason to pull me over. even though a good joke on them would be fun. What bugged me most was everything I touched on the truck like Glad hands etc. was oiled!
