So when I start seeing only like 50 running wide open, is that a good warning to start getting quotes for an inframe?
Here is the secret advice.

Older Detroit's were infamous for burning oil.
Leak a lot to.
I wouldn't have anything else though.Last edited: Jul 14, 2018

I'll will say this though , I've been driving Detroit's since the late 80' s and those trucks were if not close to 10 yrs old.
Most leaked a lot. Wasn't till late 90's that it seemed to not be as much of a problem but still burnt oil.singlescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Exactely. I don't do it so much anymore , nothing out there is worth stressing out out about and running like a maniac.
I still mash the pedal at the apex of the valley to build the boost before the hill needs pulling.
But the other 99% of the time the Cruise control is set at 68Oldironfan Thanks this. -

My 2011 glider I added 1 gallon after two weeks. Then only oil changes the next two years. Except for once they didn't get the drain plug back in properly (forgot the o ring), then I had to top off just before the oil change.
As to fuel economy - my 2011 glider did 7.5 mpg with 8% idle time over the 2 years I had it.
My 2012 cascadia did 7.5 with 4.5% idle.
My 2013 cascadia evo did 7,5, with oil that looked like chocolate milk, bad injectors (8 over the course of the year), and def/dpf/scr issues.
My 2016 evo with a dt12 has gotten 8 mpg this week. Avg load weight 38,0000, running been bay to Nashville to Sioux falls. Idled 6 hrs a night and spent 3 hours backing up (did I mention that the trainee has done all the driving?).
So even without an app it is possible to run over 6.5 mpg.Oldironfan Thanks this.
