From what I can see its a good program. I was ready to purchace the truck I have been driving for the last year and half. Something was wrong with the title. So I decided to stay company driver with the truck that I have been driving.

    kwan2323 Thanks this.

Gross $600 weekly with your own truck and trailer? Please say that’s a misprint

What i do not understand is, when you signed you lease did you read it? There should be no hidden cost period. You entered into a contract, you take the money you agreed to and take the money they agreed to. All fees, etc are to be listed in this contract.

I think you are going to be hard pressed to find any company paying percentage cover an o/o’s tolls. Tolls are like fuel, that is cost of doing business.

Maybe the Op could elaborate on that a little bit. Over all tho, it sounds like you learned a lot while leased on to them. I see you now have your own numbers. Congrats on that, it is the only way to be. Seems like you and your wife have really done well for your selves. This started as a story with a horible ending, then had a surprise plot twist and a happy ending. Lol

    Knucklehead and GreenPete:
GreenPete: We live in Arizona. At the time had 2 years driving experience, all at Swift. They fedex everything to you for yhe truck, plates, numbers etc... had me bobtail to Salt Lake City to get a trailer at their drop yard. From that point, I ran loads to get to North Carolina. 1) They, at the time, didn't pay for loads completed until you completed Orientation, the following pay day, the next week on Friday.
EXAMPLE ONLY: Bobtail Monday, February 1st from home near Nogales, AZ to Salt lake City. Arrive Wednesday Feb 3rd to grab trailer. Pick load Thursday, 4 Feb. Deliver say Wisconsin on Saturday Feb 6. Next load pick Monday Feb 8. Deliver Thursday Feb 11 in Charlotte. DH to Chandler for Orientation Friday 9 Feb. Pay would come Friday Feb 16th.
    2) Upon competing orientation, you sign the lease agreement, which, let me assure you does not explain or detail all the hidden fees. Just a single sentence that says "Carrier" may collect charges and fees as necessary to cover expenses incurred by Contractor. Like charging $3.00 every time a contractor swips for fuel. EFS only charged a $1.00 but Delta charges $2.00 admin fee plus the $1.00 for the swip. Never explained in contract.

Just that nice little catch all sentence.

Then, if you need a trailer, which I did, well, here's that seperate Contract for leasing, 12% for every load.
Never discussed or said anything about leasing a trailer during hiring process or during orientation 20 minutes earlier.

There I was, 2,500 miles away from home, zero money, and a couple of sketchy contracts are shoved in face. They owed me for loads etc... how to get home? Screw it, I'll just bull thru it and see what happens. So here we are today.

Not having alot of industry experience hurt but in the long run, set us up pretty good.

I started this thread so new or less experienced drivers wanting to lease on or purchase a truck and lease it on somewhere can read this and learn and know what to expect and look for etc... not just Delta but in general.

KNUCKLEHEAD: Everyone has different experiences at every employer. We've been gone almost a year. Perhaps things have changed at Delta. Perhaps not as we were at GATS in Dallas in August and ran into several Delta Corporate guys. They have grown.

Unfortunately, Schmuck is still there. Mr. Janitor at a nursing home now O/O operations manager screwing theowners daughter. Who knew, #### does float. And by defacto, his just as worthless younger brother is still there too.

Every job has hick ups, bumps, growing pains. Ours were mostly with the Dunce brothers.
If you don't mind being placed on safety hold, for an alledged mechanical issue, not being able to run loads for 5 & 6 days while sitting at their dirt yard, waiting on a mechanic to stop working on company equipment, amd finally say, oh, thats not an issue and bam, off safety hold.
Or, they find and fix problems which within days, break. Still waiting on my windshield rubber seal to be sent to me they forgot to put on after replacing windshield. Or unbolting turbo when you go in yo have a turn signal fixed. Or put a hole in my fuel tank while putting a new rubber liner on and didn't say anything. Good thing I did a good inspection. Or charged me for fixing leaking wheel seals but never did the work.

REMEMBER, as a Contractor, you must take your equipment to yhem every 90 days so their clowns can screw up your stuff.

As far as load boards, yhey find and book loads for you. Very common to end up sitting on a weekend because your assigned dispatcher never mentions they are going away for a week and leave Friday.
Only assigned dispatcher cam book your loads.
Also, would never stack loads. Mostly only booked after current load is complete.

If you are at a good company, don't leave to a lessor one.
