I'm asking this because I'm currently on probation for a misdemeanor drug charge. The official crime was possession of a counterfeit substance because they had to make up a charge for my possession of testosterone. I'm a 25 year old guy into bodybuilding if they must know. (And of course I stopped....maybe.) My probation ends next February. I guess I should just wait until then to apply?
I want to find a big company that offers paid training and a job out of training. I really don't know much about the trucking industry. I've just had trouble finding decent jobs with my worthless Bachelors degree in political science. I did have a 3.9 gpa in college if that helps my application. I've been thinking about becoming a trucker for a while now, since I realized I'm never going to have a better job and I need to find something stable. I hear the trucking industry really needs drivers right now too.
Since I graduated 2 years ago, I've had an unstable work history, working for a few months at a time in low-paying call center and food service jobs. I walked off a few jobs and just didn't show up to a few to let them know I resign. I think I'm a good worker and can learn jobs quickly. It's just that i need the incentive of a good job instead of having such poor ones that i can just quit one then go find another the next day.
And I have a low credit score and lots of student loan debt.
I have a completely clean driving history.
I can assume I should wait til probation ends to apply. But after that, given what I've said here, does it sound like a trucking company would want me?
Should I apply now and could I get hired?

Magnum will treat you with comprehensive consideration.
Tell Tony I sent you.
You could try Prime. Talk to Nikki Yost. She won't BS you. She knows what she's talking about. Find her in the recruiters directory.
Go ahead and apply now. Won't matter to them if you're in or out of probation. Only thing that matters is the probation and the details.Last edited: Jul 19, 2018

Pretty sure your degree and credit score won't be in consideration at all. I had no credit starting out. Working on it now with a secured credit card.
I dont know about the roids. -
Go to law school.

Dear Mrs. Trump, where is your location?
Can you pass a drug test. For urine test you must be clean 90 days.
For hair follicle test you must be clean 12 months.
Some companies do only urine and some do hair follicle.
Answer the questions and we can help you get started. -
Trucking can stress you enough. You don't have the leeway to stave off a Roid Rage and the typical road circus at the same time.
Chill out for a bit so you don't burn a bridge. -
Ryan423 Thanks this.

NO! ALL CARRIERS TEST URINE. They might also test hair, but they are mandated to do urine testing. It is not requests that have been made. President Obama signed into law the FAST act. once some bugs are worked out carriers can use hair testing.
This pre employment drug testing is getting confusing. A carrier can let a driver go without a pre employment test §382.301 if said driver has worked a safety sensitive job and been tested within the previous 6 months. The new company must get your drug testing records. Otherwise you have to urine test. If a carrier does not test urine otherwise they are NOT complying with Federal Rules. Hair testing at this point is NOT considered testing for the purposes of complying with §382. -
You know all that muscle just turns to fat.
