I should have seen this last night, but I went right past it...

What do you mean by your day driver, do you own a day cab running local around the area?

I would shoot myself too. After almost 2 years of being with Central, all I can see when I look at the lease options is bad news. You are braver than I am.

    It really isn't to bad!!!!!!!!!

Its like any Business you weigh the risks before you decide its for you.

I run my own home based Business and I sell women's clothes online, I have to look at my Wholesalers every few days and see if I think the Dress will sell or the shirt, its a calculated risk.

Central doesn't have the best L/O program but it certainly isn't the worst.

JJ couple of questions I've wondered about l/o's?

Do you pick your own truck?
Do you pay insurance on it?
Do you get the same FSC that o/o's get?
Do you get priority when your truck goes into the shop?

I got to pick my own truck kind of. I asked for a Black Pete but they didn't have them yet, so after looking at the red one because all of the trucks came with the same options I decided to get the red one and i am glad i did because it is much cooler in the summer.

Unfortunately i do have to pay insurance, bobtail and collision.

I do get the fuel surcharge.

With our shops it is on a first come first serve basis, but i don't use the company shop, I take mine to peterbilt and speedco's for the Aand B services.

I call him my day driver, he calls me his night driver.

Robertson's Transport has two drivers per truck, a night driver and a day driver. All new hires start as night drivers. Night shift starts at 11AM and goes thru to 5:00PM, with trucks starting every half-hour. Adrian, my day driver, has his shift scheduled from 2AM to 2PM, when I login.

Whenever an opening for day shift comes up night drivers can sign up (bid) for it. Lowest employee number gets the truck. But, right now, he typically finishes around 10 to 11AM. I start at 2PM and typically am headed home from the Cabazon yard around8-8:30PM.

We both were scheduled off Monday and Tuesday as our employee numbers were too high. I take Wednesday nights off now, he got two loads on his Wednesday shift. He got two on Thursday, I only got one. We both got one Friday and both off today. Him, because his employee number was too high (he is high 1900's and they only brought in up to #1450 Saturday morning), I was off because I and the other night driver out of Cabazon are scheduled off Saturdays until April fourth due to lack of work. Also because they now close the Cabazon shop at 3PM and they really don't want us running in case we break down...have to wait then for mechanic to drive out from Rialto, which could take several hours.

    JJ,

Is the insurance expensive or do they give you good rates? Sorry to be pampering you with questions.
