Speaking of NRA, I cringe when I listen to the head of NRA.

Dude (Wayne?) speaks like a stepford person. I'm amazed at his speech writers are still employed...

Maybe he's a bot too, now that the Russians have been in the background all along...lol

I just wrote this in response to someone else asking the same question as you about Amazon:

I feel like I pretty much MADE Amazon. I am a GREAT customer, and have been for years and years. And their customer service was, for the longest time, second to none. They set the standard.

    But as a shipper/receiver? They are ##### a-holes.

Their schedulers basically use Mapquest to decide how long it will take their TRUCKS to arrive to their destination. Nevermind the legally mandated breaks. Nevermind stopping to fuel. Nevermind that we are humans and not robots. Nevermind the slower truck speed compared to cars. Nevermind the slower truck speed when loaded and traveling over a mountain. Nevermind weather. Nevermind traffic. Nevermind that they are in the midwest and setting deadlines for I-5 through the Seattle, Portland, and Southern California areas! Idiots. They do not have a single clue.

Their "Command & Control" center operators are rude. You call them to say you'll be late because of traffic, and they're so bored and disinterested. They say they noted your account, but they almost never do. If you forget to note their name at the beginning of the call, and ask them at the end, they hang up on you. They are horrible.

Their warehouses are also super fun. I'm honestly thinking of personally investing in custom signs that read "Get the F (spelled out) off our property!" They have a hard and fast rule that nothing should ever take more than 30 minutes. Dropping and hooking doubles? 30 minutes. In most cases, their yard dogs won't even assist. If you don't have a pintle hook, you must drag the dolly manually. And at about minute 20, the guards come over to interrogate you to find out if you're going to be out on time. They have actually made us leave early before we even did a pre-trip, or anything else, because if we're not outside of their gate by minute 30, the guards get in trouble.

    I loathe them.

Yeah I know but here is the thing, if I had a small fleet with 140 trucks, I can talk to menlo to have them advise me where the access points are with military freight.

Military freighting generally goes with the Support Military Depots up and down the east coast for me. My company bosses arranged what container for me to get and where to go to get loaded. I end up having to go through several sets of increasingly intrusive questioning and checks with the gaurds and eventually go up vs the Sgt in the Office responsible for handing me the load papers etc. If there was to be a problem I wont even see the Sgt or the load at all.

Other kinds of loads go direct to the miltiary base, such as Naval Yards Norfolk. Roofing material for one of their warehouses. As long you have bills in your hand designating the US Navy as the customer for the freight on your deck at the Base Gate, there is no problem gaining access (In those days pre-911) to finish delivery.

In short Military loads are just that. Ordinary military stuff. If you are a good driver you go about hauling these things as good as you haul everything else. There will be no problems. Trust me when I tell you that if there is going to be a problem before you got to touch a military anything you will not see it at all.

Why in the world would I want to run for Amazon? Their own workers inside the warehouse cannot be bothered to take 10 minutes to go to the bathroom on the bottom floor. I wont be around that. Period. Yes Ive ordered stuff, but if it takes a week to get here that's ok. I fly the really important stuff from other online vendors that cannot risk being damaged in a truck for a week.

If anything at all for me, It's McKesson for medicines of all kinds. The US Population is geting older and sicker until about 2045. You should be buying tractor trailers hand over fist and developing teams to run this stuff which will increase in demand. The payroll and the ordinary time sucking BS in this industry goes away with these high dollar loads. They actually want to see you in the morning early. They want your load now. And will reload you for Memphis right back within the hour. (Cardboard bales) Or if something comes up like 9-11 did, they will reload you full up for Linfield Ct. which controls the east coast.

The rest of it? If you have trucks and you are busy hauling freight and everyone is happy with no grouch, complaining, BS or other losses then all is well. That is what you want in life. Otherwise you aint living yet.
