Make sure the 2008 has a pre-emission 2007 engine, or you will spend all you money at the fuel pump, and all your time in the shop. Stay away from DPF engines, especially Cat. 4.2 mpg is usually the very top end of the mileage on the Cat DPF engines.

 

So You're saying non DPF engines burn less fuel than DPF Engines?!?!

 

Good luck ,Buy cheap pay it off then work up !!! A lot easier, smaller payments and less overhead = more money in your pocket.. Glad to see your not going the lease way you would have had alot less control of your business. Atleast now if you dont like who your running for you can change . Also you need to get the pet approved oh wait thats up to you LOL.

 

The numbers buying new are just terrible. You lose 30k or more that first year just on principle value, and the interest has been compounding all along. Also new truck pricing hasn't changed much whereas used trucks are dropping like mad.

 

All I know is I drove a 2008 C-15 DPF engine and the best mpg I got was 4.2, with an average of 3.7 over 5200 miles. This was three weeks ago.

I just got back from another 5200 mile trip with a 2005 C-15 twin turbo Acert, and averaged 6.4, with a best of 6.8. This engine has over one million miles on it. It is a BSX.

 

Check to see if the 2004 would be an early year model with a pre-acert 2003 engine and single turbo. If so get it. If not, see if one of the trucks has an engine that starts with the serial number BSX, then get that one.
