I've been noticing that the chatter on the C.B. is nonexistent nowadays. I suggest some new drivers pick up a c.b. and use it, it can be used for weather reports, Smokey locations, traffic backups, etc..etc. Too bad there is no one chatting on the C.b.

I agree, I have one in my 4 wheeler and barely hear anyone.... I'm nervous tho to just start chatting and when I do I rarely get a response.
Widowmaker9172 Thanks this. -
I dont have a CB.... on purpose.
Too much racist tirades, that have zero benefit to my operation.
If I was American, maybe I would care, but I'm an immigrant, so I have learned to navigate around the radio hate.line, Komputergod and BTShepp Thank this. -
If you weren't here in the United States "illegally", maybe you won't hear the radio hate. Also, having one and ignoring some of the C.B. Rambos might help.

CB traffic is down. Today's driver doesn't see the need or expense in having a radio. With GPS, FM radio, overhead traffic signs, some just feel todays technology the outdated cb is useless. Plus, how can one listen to mp3 through their headphones, and be bothered by CB chatter. Others keep the radio turned down until they get to a traffic back up. Hints the term "back up radio". Sometimes I just dont care to hear the "BS" that people talk about on cb.
As for me cb is nearly a necessity for what I do. Not just traffic, or directions, but communicating with scales, inspectors, loaders, and other drivers. I don't give the ####### pot stirrers the time of day. They just want pi$$ others off with dumb uneducated race, and political views .JReding Thanks this. -
Hahaha... nice try... <<brush my shoulders off>>Komputergod Thanks this.

Most drivers don't have one because they think they are: 1) God's gift to Trucking. 2) Know it all's, which is a big no no in trucking. 3) Do not want to hear the racist b.s., which you might hear about everywhere you go. 4) May not know what is going on around the next corner.
I run a C.B. and have it on when I drive. Regardless if I get a response, at least the other drivers will know what's ahead of them. I've been out here, off and on, for the past 15 years and I do not claim to know it all, I am still learning something new each day. -
Are you scared? If you are a Canadian, then I don't have a problem.Last edited: Jul 21, 2018

Having head phones on your head is a big no no in trucking and can result in a big fine. Also, not knowing about a traffic backup that might me 15 to 50 miles ahead of you might cause another crash near you.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
