I just bought a new trailer that came with a Dunnage rack on it. I've seen some guys keep a strap over the dunnage and some guys don't. What is the regulation on this? On mine there is no way to strap over the dunnage as its completely enclosed with the exception of the front.![]()

If you can loop around it, then I would look at a set of these, cheap straps. That way your covered.
-
I can not loop around it at all.
-
If you cannot secure the dunnage in the rack as per the regulations, then I would not use the rack.

What is the regulation pertaining to this? I definitely am using the rack. I'm thinking about mounting two different eye bolts about 3 feet apart both with about a foot of chain link with a clevis hook on the ends that will hook up on the bottom on the trailer. I'm think that will satisfy any dot officer as that will make it so the dunnage is unable to come out of the rack.

Exactly it's not coming out of the rack that's fully enclosed, I have 10 full size pieces in that rack that I posted a picture of. I'm just concerned with satisfying the officer when and if I get an inspection.

Maybe you should consider a dry van if you aren't familiar with basic securement regulations.Tug Toy, Bean Jr. and Pedigreed Bulldog Thank this. -
Maybe you shouldn't assume things. I'm simply asking a question, that's what the purpose of this website is for correct? I'm not a know it all as I see there's plenty of them on here.Fatboy42, Rollr4872, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this.
