You just learned a valuable lesson. Never assume your truck has factory installed parts. If the rod height leveling valve has multiple points for the height i can almost guarantee it isnt factory.

If after getting the ride height perfect it still vibrates. Find an md alignment guy. They are not cheap but they are absolutely the best. They will go over your truck front to rear checking every component and will find the problem.

Instead of spending $$$ and guessing what the problem is. Take it to a MD alignment shop they are the best around... a 5 axle alignment is about $500-700?

The valve arm only has one hole, the rod only has a hole on each end and isn't adjustable and has an ugly weld in the middle that just doesn't look like quality Paccar work to me. The rear end housing has a bracket with five holes to use for the leveling rod.

I don’t think that rim damage is going to cause any type of vibration, I’m guessing it’s something different.

Got a part number from my ride height thread and after cross referencing it looks like the current linkage is indeed incorrect. Just went and measured the linkage and it's only about 8.75" putting my ride height at the same number. I looked up the part number and according to the cross reference linked below the OEM rod is indeed 10 inches in length. Looks like I have some butchered up DIY rod/linkage on there now that could very well be the source of myhighway speed vibration issues. I'll post back once I have an opportunity to get it all on and tested.

Got a leveling rod and set it to the proper ride height of 10" and the vibration is still there!

gotta go back and check the alignment of the drive shaft center bearing.

the rear carrier bearings (the ones INSIDE the rear axle) can be bad.

you said you had an all wheel alignment? if so, then hopefully this means all axles were mounted properly when they replaced the one you said they did. so THIS may be eliminated for now.

get you get a sampling of the rear end fluid from each rear end, and check for metal fragments?

if you get some, there is one good possibility, that rear end needs an overhaul. it was a used axle as you said, how do you know how good the bearings were in the replacement? you don't.

I haven't replaced any of the axles but I have done all of the hub bearings. The axles looked fine when I pulled them out to do the bearings/seals. I will check the carrier bearing again to see if it's pulling to either side or not.

no, i mean the carrier bearings that ARE INSIDE the rear axle. they support...the carrier (also known as the ring gear)

it is even possible that the pinion gear has a bad bearing...

i'd go with a bad bearing, as i had an experience with my old mack, as i had mentions posts ago, and once they replaced the ring gear and carrier bearings, again, the bearings INSIDE the rear axle, all was great.

Had the chance to check out the wheels and found two on the tandem a little tweaked. One steel and one aluminum. One has about 1/6th of end play and the other has about 1/8th of an inch. Could that be enough to cause a vibration?
