I remember speaking to a few megas back when I first obtained my CDL. Thank the heavens I never had to sign on with any of them, but they all through they were pretty special. Never quite understood the whole "bring a guy or gal out here before actually vetting them" deal. But I guess they've got the funds to blow, so why not?
Trucking in Tennessee, Dave_in_AZ, jsnell and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’ve had Martin Brower blowing my phone up and I was interested. Until I asked if I was hired before I got there and their answer was no, day 3.
I told them to remove my number from their database.Dave_in_AZ and jsnell Thank this. -
Takes that long to get the urine test done.jsnell Thanks this.

I delivered there Saturday, and wasn't going to park on the tracks, so pulled short but left room for cars to get around. The receiving guy gets out of his car and starts complaing and tells me to go to a gravel lot. I said you can get around me. He said I check you in, move. Some place.

From Commerce GA to 75 N is all slow going. I think its best to go 85 S to 285 N then 75 N. Backroading that is very slow in that area.Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this.

How many clinics near you can do a drug screen before you go halfway across the country for a “interview”?
Can they not pull a DAC and have you complete a background before you go?
Is it so difficult to vet an individual that’s it’s cheaper to rent them a car or fly them to their main terminal first? -
I have one in my town that does it the same day, but they wanted it done at THEIR clinic, because of a trust issue I suppose. Got there at 4 on Monday and tested, but the results weren't back Wednesday, so nobody dispatched. I also signed another release while there for a criminal background check. Why they waited on that I don't know. Maybe they actually want to meet you in person and see if you still, etc. After all, you are representing the company. In my case I have retail deliveries too. I do wonder, like you, why they can't cover more ground. There were only 6 of us, and everyone passed, so I suppose they vetted well enough.Aamcotrans Thanks this.
