When I used to work for Swift and had a load out of Corning, I would always stop at Bay 101 Casino. Just drive in and check in at the security and they will let you park it. Since traffic out of 580 is going to kill you anyway, might as well park it at a nice facility.

Well, fiddlesticks.
Jurupa valley CA day two.
My truck needs a DPF filter cleaning. We had another truck down here. It's not safe to drive. Idk how the driver got it here and he's another on our Saint Gobain fleet. Fairing mount is broken. Applied air test dropped the 2ndary from full to red line in 7 seconds. And the cherry on top, no loaners. So my fleet manager is just thrilled right now.
Meanwhile my happy self camped out in a truck for the first time in months. Slept like a baby, nice to know I haven't gotten too spoiled.
@moose did that in KY once. And last December we had a guy get put OOS spend about 30 hrs at the super scale. Axel mount had cracked on an old pos prime trailer. Had to get a flatbed to stack it on and another for the bloody load.
I think that was part of the reason for the new 2019 Easts they sent our way. Those old CMC trailers all needed rebuilds.
Anyway hope everyone is doing good. -
I think I'm going to ditch Windows and go to Linux.
I am so sick of all the updates that I don't want, and the ads when I want to play solitaire.
Microsoft is just SO up in my face now with this new Windows system.
Those ads in Solitaire really eat up my data. The other day they were coming so often they actually ran out the data usage because it was near the limit.
Linux Mint looks like a good option. -
Seriously it's a good distro. Based of Ubuntu I think. Which is only important because it's headache free for the most part and has fantastic support.
Last Linux distros I was running was BackTrack and BlackBuntu. So yeah....... I wasn't the typical user.
Didn't know there were ads in solatair, that's fd up. Unfortunatly my home computing needs leave me with no choice to stick with Windows for the primary OS.
But it's the professional edition, cause you can't use all that ram without spending an extra hundred 100$. Yet another reason to hate Windows. -
I've used Mint before and I liked it. There were a few games I wanted to play that needed Windows so I went back.
But now Microsoft is simple getting too intrusive and frustrating. All the updates with features I don't care about or want on my computer, the spying, the ads, all of it. I'm pretty much fed up with Windows.FerrissWheel and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -
To remove ads from the Lock screen, do the following:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Personalization.
- Click on Lock screen.
- In the Background drop-down menu, select Picture or Slideshow.
- Turn off the Get fun facts, tips, and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen toggle switch.
taodnt Thanks this. -
Not a huge fan of gnome interface, I like kde better.
Also if you can look past that they are a Chinese distro deepin 15.6 is very good and no they are not spyware https://www.deepin.org/en/
I triple boot manjaro, deepin and Antergos.
If you games are not GPU intensive you can always run Windows in VM in Linux.Last edited: Jul 26, 2018
FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
I've never had any luck with Wine.
I like the Cinnamon desktop.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
No luck so far with Linux Mint.
It doesn't like something about my system and I'm not able to shutdown or restart. It just hangs. It is the same when running it live off the USB stick or after it is installed on the hard drive. Other bad glitches as well when trying to access files on either the Linux drive or the NTFS drive.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
On another topic...
I was on a load headed to WA yesterday.
Got a QC message telling me to t-call the load at Troutdale because the first stop had to use a day cab.
Well, no problem. I wasn't looking forward to a 0500 live unload anyway.
I get to Troutdale, drop the trailer and go inside to turn in the paperwork, then head to the shop because I really needed steer tires.
I'm told to pull in, and the tires were changed.
From entering the terminal to getting out of the shop it took a total of 40 minutes.
I was impressed.FerrissWheel, scottied67 and Speed_Drums Thank this.
