the fcc has limited the cb frequencies to 4watts because they dont require a license to operate. there are other frequencies out there where you can run higher watts but then you need a license to operate.

the one question I have for hamster as well as anyone else who might know is how can anyone own air?I could see if it were compressed air that they were selling or something of that nature, but radio transmissions travel through air that BELONGS to no one. I mean if it is your air and you OWN it do I need to get a licene to breath that air in next,as it BELONGS to you and it might take away from your airspace that you can transmit in?

the more I read about on here the more ticked off i seem to get. As a former truck driver (only stopped cause I got married and wanted to be home more often)Gadflys saying"if you don't have a license for ten meter than you don't need a ten meter radio" is just one more way to take something from drivers. I say go ahead and take everything that we as drivers enjoy, and in return we as drivers should just say figure out your own #### way to move freight to keep your country going because we ain't doing it.

Ok guys here is the deal use the 10 meter radios all you want in the CB bands just know where you are operating is all we ask as Ham operators. Its not the radios that most of us have a problem with its the operator. Saying 10 meter radios are bad because some fool wants to play in the 10 meter band is like saying guns kill people because some fool used one to kill some body. There were some good 10 meter radios out there the ranger 2950 is one that comes to mind i used one when i first got licensed and made a bunch of contacts on it all the way to Europe off the 10 meter repeater in Boston from Nebraska. So don't go selling your radios and all just use them responsibly.

you do that and see who else does, cause i bet for every driver that goes on strike there will be about 20 more to fill said spot.

Im sure he is. I bet hes also a ham licensed operator

all gadfly is trying to say is that if you dont have a ham license then you dont need a radio with the ham frequencies. But if you are using one then just stay on the cb frqs and you'll be fine.

IMO: Gadfly has contributed more times to this forum than i can count and hes not using cuss words or anything like that. So i see no reason why he should be banned

Yes and he is also wrong about the "40"channels. Don't forget that there are many FCC legal CBs that have upper and lower sideband that gives them more then 40 channels and a little more power on the sidebands to boot. Just two that come to mind are the Galaxy series such as the 949 and 959.
