Brewster, MN pick up

I bought an 86 Ford Ranger off eBay in Brewster, MN and am having it shipped to Amarillo, TX. The broker is having trouble finding a carrier due to the location of the pick up(Brewster, MN). Is the SW corner of MN really a tough area to find a carrier or is the broker just blowing smoke? Shipping cost is $1030 and I will be billed for that amount...which inc. a 3% fee to use my card. Once the truck is picked up, that will come out of my account. It's been about 2 weeks so far and the broker keeps saying it's a tough area to get a truck in to get the vehicle picked up. Just wondering what you guys think of this and if I need to tell him to cancel and find someone else. I'd love to give the money directly to a driver rather than working through a broker that takes a cut. Thoughts?

 

That helps a lot, thanks! How much has the broker posted the load for? I was wondering if he posted it for such a low rate, that no one is biting on the vehicle. Not sure if I'm wording that right(I've never hauled cars), but hoping he's not cheaping out so he can pocket more money. Does it show the money that the load is paying? I'm curious.

 

Ok, that makes sense. Hopefully whoever picks this up will have some DFW bound vehicles also, so the driver can get into a better area for outbound cars(if that's the case). The seller of the truck will be out of town from July 29-Aug 6, so if anyone seeing this thread is thinking about making this pick up, the truck won't be available for pick up any time between those dates. The seller is also willing to trailer the pickup closer to I-90 to make it easier on the carrier. 2 weeks ago, the broker assured me that it'd be no problem to get the truck picked up before July 29, but guess he (and I)didn't expect such a hassle.

 

What do ya know. That's what he's telling me now...throwing another $100-$150 at it to see if anyone bites.

 

Guess I'm getting old because I'd much rather enjoy hometime than have to drive 1700 miles(round trip) to go get this thing.

Does the rate posted on Central Dispatch($875) seem reasonable? If I need to pony up some more dough, I will...but I don't like the idea that some of it will go into the brokers pocket.
