In my experience they are not trying. The ones you mention that get a min wage job and keep trying and stop blowing their money. Those are the one that move out of the 'hood Their progress is slow at first sure, and some even with back slides. But in all cases the one trying eventually get out of poverty wages.
I'd say a good 95% of the people I know (and knew) would never even try to get better off.

 

lol, you need a better class of friends. My friends, poor or not, work hard and give what they can to other ppl. Lots of studies have shown that poor ppl are more altruistic, and more willing to give the shirt off their back to help ppl. I know a lady on a very limited income due to health reasons and still packs backpacks full of supplies to give to homeless ppl. Where does she find these ppl? Truck stops. I feel that when someone comes to me and asks for help, that's GOD's way of asking me to help them. I always give a little bit of cash when I have it, because I have been poor and broke, and know how it feels. I don't always assume the worst about people, because statistics say that most ppl are good, law abiding ppl. And who cares if they go buy alcohol or drugs with that cash? What would I do with it? I call it "mad money" when it's just spare cash in my pocket, and I'd spend it on something worthless too.

 

And here I thought this was s free country. Right to travel, freedom of movement, etc.

I laugh so hard every time I see one of these."i dont answer questions" videos. Some people dont even realize the privilege they have. If someone from the (code word) inner city. Tried that they would wind up under the jail. The video would never make the internet. Cause phone would have been confiscated.

 

Bus tickets are very cheap. If he can't manage to save a few bucks, doubtful he can manage a trucking career.

 

Disagreeing with someone takes another turn with the F-bomb starts getting dropped.

 

Yeah tjere cheap for a truck driver making 1500+ a week for past cpl years... Not so cheap for a tranee who hasnt made 1500 for the entire year for last cpl years...
