What the hell does the ability to spell and complete sentences have to do with getting a job with a trucking company? It would help us to understand what he is saying but it has nothing to do with him getting another job. He wants to drive a truck not be an english teacher or editor. My advice to him is to quit, leave the truck on the side of the road, and go bartend or wait tables somewhere. The money is much better.Bushman Thanks this.

Its really simple.
If the yob application reads like the first post in this thread the trucking company will just throw that one in the trash and move onto the next one.

Thanks so very true, and thanks for pointing it out. A fact of life.

Obviously, Hooked On Phonics doesn't work for everybody!
Brickman Thanks this. -
Is it phonix or phonics??? LOL Once I put that down in another thread and was subjected to the nastiest post, actually countless posts from one person, telling me what a mean stupid person I was. The guy(?) continued doggin' me 'till I never went back and I liked the thread too...
So, let's see what you get. LOL

Go stand in a line at the pilot or a big corporate shipper/receiver. You would think you where in the lobby of the UN. I have even found myself a immigrant from Germany, slow talking to other drivers so they can understand me, and straining my ear to understand there broken English.
A CDL-Med Card and a bag of clothes will get you in a truck these days. And you can even get those for a price in most large city's. Heck in So Cal I think you can get a class A for around $500. With a couple of ride alongs you will be hauling Tomatoes and Hay, and other things in no time.

Anymore today jobs aren't as easy as picking a phone up and finding a carrier and starting 2 days later. I myself have looked around and whats out there isnt better then what i have now. Least here I'm getting miles had 3700 last week and 2000 to start this week and with new carrier i doubt i will be able to get those type of miles
luvtheroad Thanks this. -
Well I did not pick up a phone but I did a cut and paste and sent some pdf files just to see what the waters where like and now my inbox is full of E-mails from trucking outfits. dang it!
Trucking has always had a high turnover and with a clean record it just ain't that hard. Heck I even got a local outfit looking for a Vacum truck driver that pays 16.5 to 19.5 per hour DOE -
Hey that's great! Do you think it's easier for someone with years of experience and a clean record? Also, what do you think the % of turnover is now vs. a couple of years back? I knew it to be well over 100% for the big carriers, do you think it's that high now since a lot of them are "cleaning house"?
