Right, I meant to type Florida lol. My mistake. But gross doesn't change from tandems moving or fifth wheel adjustments. This load could not be made legal and therefore, I wasn't going to take it to final with all the scales in Florida.
Swift is a good company

I understand the see saw effect, but it still doesn't change the actual weight bearing down on the base of the see saw, it only moves it to one direction or the other. I don't need my dm to baby me driver but in these situations, I'm going to get the company involved because I'm simply not going to pull a load that's not legal, it's as simple as that.
If I pull it and get a ticket, guess who's paying for it? I didn't get into trucking to donate to the state. Unless the company tells me in writing they'll eat any fines related to the load, it will sit. If I don't make as much money that week, oh well. So what? -

Is that a deck scale with the entire unit on it?
I have had times when a wind is blowing and that can affect weight by the force of the wind pushing against the trailer. The other thing to watch is whether there is an incline on the scale approach if you're scaling axles. -
swift sucks!!! dont let em fool you

Hello all, I a have been reading this fourm for a number of weeks trying to decided what company I wanted to start with. I had it narrowed down to P.A.M., Swift, Prime, and Stevens. I applyed to all of them, got the standered answer from P.A.M. or so the Driver Solutions Recruter says "We have decided to go with other canadets at this time." Prime hasn't called me back, so it was down to Stevens and Swift. Applyed to both the same day, got a call from Swift that night a couple of hours later 7PM. Got a call from Stevens the next day. So now it was to whom ever got me in there program first. Got a call from Swift today, someone droped out and a seat was open if I was interested. I asked sure when do I go? He says "Wendsday". Wow i got to admit after reading about guys haveing to wait till mid March and I got in, in 2 days, leaveing after a week from putting my app in. I feel very fortunate and I am very excided. I want to thank everyone in this thread for all the great info in this thread and if i wasnt worryied about people attacking me I would do the same on the anti-swift boards as well. Everything I have read from this site has been a great education in trucking. Wes (vickw) since I live in the Houston area I should be assigned to your terminal right? If so I look forward to working with (for?) you.
Sorry about the spelling, never been very good at it.
