From what I see, we do it off the latter. Even if that's the case, if the employee can go through his personal physician it's one thing. If they must use the company provider, then it'sa whole different ballgame.TennMan and Aamcotrans Thank this. -
and if they honestly evaluate their sleep patterns and dont feel its warranted but are forced by examiner or company ,especially after consult with pcp. lodge a complaint with the feds and that states medical board.Lonesome and gentleroger Thank this. -
I simply refuse to work for anyone that requires me to use their doctor.
I’ve seen my doctor for over 5 years, he’s on the list. He’s the one that does my physical.
CPAP has become a money maker for megas and these clinics. -
Update, went to my doc for the BP and sleep apnea. Got prescribed with low dosage BP meds and taking company sleep study when they can fit me in. I feel defeated and I can only hope it will help rather than obstruct(no pun) my trucking in the future.
baha Thanks this. -

Here's a little story that I went thru at Schneider years ago when they first started the testing.
They ordered me to go take the test, they set it up and they paid for it. They set it up while I was under load on my way thru Atlanta. I told them I wouldn't make it til late that night. Schneider assured me they have Truck parking. I arrived about 1130 PM to find out no truck parking available since i had a trailer but i could park the til 5 am when employees started to arrive. I went inside and was told they would get to me shortly.
About 1 am they came and took me back told me to change into sleep wear and hooked me up to the myriad of wires by 2 am i was laid down and told i had to sleep on my back. I sleep on my side.
At 4 am they woke me up and made me leave so i wouldnt block the lot i went to unhook and take off wires and several of them were no longer even connected to the diode pads.
I got dressed and went to truck. Called non support shift and was told to go to Atl OC.
Did my 10 hour break and ran rest of the week. I did convey my experience to my DBL and Health services and was told had to wait for results.
Results...... positive for SA.
I disputed was sent home to await machine to arrive. It beat me there. Went to Charlotte and had inverter installed.
I kept disputing the results. Slept like crap and felt worse.
I had to have surgery the following year and I still felt lousy sleep wise.
While in hospital for surgery my doctor had a sleep study ordered to find i was negative.
I told him how 1st test was done and he stated, sleep apnea is a serious condition that needs addressed however there is no 1 remedy that fits all and any testing outside of a controlled regulated professional environment is suspect at best.
He believed that pop up sleep test centers were scams especially the way i was tested.
He cited any doctors or medical facility that has a 90 plus percentage positive diagnosis rate seemed impossible.
He wrote me a 3 page letter explaining my results and testing which he did both nights i was in hospital.
Sent letter and results from test to Schneider and they fought me for 2 months before finally allowing my test as being acceptable and taking me off the SA program.
Then tried to bill me for the original test.
To me its helpful to those that it works for but not everybody.Sirscrapntruckalot, mattymatt, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this. -
Who are some companies that will hire drivers with no experience that hold a cdl that do not require sleep studies like Schneider?
