I am looking at a truck that is a 2005. Of course I will be required to install an ELD, however, I do a lot of loads now that would put me over my hours (currently keeping paper logs). I see other drivers with ELD's doing the same loads, so for you guys how are you getting around the ELD and keeping paper logs?

Well, they aren't. Can't get aeound elds without being found out.

And, if you could, like any of them would come here and admit to it.

If you can't do it legal, then you can't do it. Welcome to the world of following rules. It's gotten most people a pretty good raise.

On the paper you could do things at a slower pace, you could inspect your rig and make sure everything was safe. Now you can not fudge numbers any so you will need to still do the safety inspections and plan way better to not let any milliseconds be wasted. If they are doing the same loads on eld,s they are not wasting any time. In other words learn how to work less to make more.

    James122 Thanks this.

Plenty of people have editable ELD's apps.

You know that when the regulators get hungry they will go a hunting for fair game, play the game by their book and if loads can not be done it is your duty to do it legally. If you get it running correctly legal you will be ahead in the game, the ones fudging will become the game for the regulators.

Many companies went out of business because they were running illegal to provide their service. They were forced to go to ELOGs because of violations. They couldn't provide the same service now and their customers dropped them. If you have to run illegal to make a living you're doing it wrong. Not being a jerk just saying there's no need to run like that anymore. Plus if you're involved in an accident it will be your fault automatically regardless of what actually happened if you're on illegal logs. To me, it's not worth going to jail over.

Your up the creek without a paddle. Welcome to the world of ELD's . Forget about the 05 and look for a 99 and that solves your problem.
