I received a citation on new years day of this year and I was able to get driving school for it. It is my only ticket and I am wondering if I can still go to a good truck driving school with this out there. My insurance does not know about the ticket. Swift looked at my driving record and they did not even find it on there. I asked them if they did. Even though I got the driving school Swift made me wait 6 months before they would take me. I am sure they would have found out about the ticket if I did not say anything so I was honest about it. I am not sure how it works. Should I disclose the speeding ticket or not? I don't want to get fired later. Thanks.

Well you did already tell them...
Anyways I would pull up my h6 from the CA dmv website (it costs about $2) and see if the ticket is on your driving record. -
Make up your mind, did you tell them or not ? You contradict yourself. Bottom line, don’t mentioned squat, simple....
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

When you go to driving school. The ticket is dropped. Unless maybe special circumstances with the judge. Special circumstances I could rationalize: Some of the people in a driving school class I attended I could not believe. They would have thrown me in jail! It was always the tiny little sweet falsetto tones of voice that would say things like; 115mph on I5 in San Clemente.
Dave_in_AZ and bottomdumpin Thank this. -
Honesty used to go a long way, you will be able to tell if it is a company you want to be associated with by the way they treat you. We all have made a mistake or 99.

From my point of view, its best to tell, but tell all, including the fact that you did go to a driving class afterwards. That way, they wont have the fact that you didnt tell them about a ticket hanging on your record that they could use against you at a later date. The way I see it, if a company is going to fire me, they are going to have to come up with a reason, Im not going to intentionally give them one. Like PM said, everybody makes mistakes. If a trucking company held one mistake against me, I wouldnt want to drive for them anyway. They would probably be doing me a favor by not hiring me or terminating me for 1 mistake?

Once you get your CDL you are deemed by society to be a professional driver, now you are held to the highest standard.
No more driving school if you F up.
***Disclaimer - You will not however, ever, be considered a professional driver by the esteemed members of TTR.***Last edited: Jul 29, 2018

Why did you leave Swift?
Was the ticket a DUI or what? -
The ticket was for speeding. It's more than 15 over the limit I left swift due to the poor training. The program wasn't long enough and I wasn't going to make the cut in 5 days of driving and backing. I need more work on the backing portion more than anything.
