Something else to keep in mind if you run your own plates and you leave said company if the plates are yours you can at least get home.

Unless the company cancels you, you can just tell em you are taking a couple days off. Either go home or bob tail to your new job and once there cancel the lease and send plates back, attend orientation and get the new plates.

Which is my plan as spending 1200+ on plates the co will pay for is not in the plans yet. I got my no from Schneider today so now I can move on since I've done the obligatory appease the hubby attempt to get on them. I knew they'd say no they have me no hired in there computer lol.

So I'm vetting Interstate as I've also removed panther and heartland. Interstate already approved us before when we applied as company team, hubby went to Schneider for some #### stupid reason I still don't understand. But he's learned his lesson about believing the recruiting bs of big companies you'd think he'd learned after 10 years and 2 stints at jb hunt. Ugh.

Interstate has 2 options the one I'm leaning toward pays EVERYTHING but the truck note and pays me about 57 cpm all miles. There is a percent route too but I'm thinking run the 57cpm route for a bit get a feel for things then move to percent when the truck is near being paid off. Interstate is a good co, upfront. Fairly friendly and the 5 drivers I've talked to liked them a lot.

I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that that "everything" does not include your truck maintenance. You realize that you are going to need to set aside .07 to .10 per mile for that right?

So they are paying .57 and you are setting .10 aside for maintenace and another .10 for the note. That means that you are looking at .37 for paying yourselves. I am not saying that that is good or bad as a rate of pay. That is up toy you to decide. I am just pointing out something that you may not have thought about and may also benefit others reading this thread.

We currently make.34 a mile gross .28 a mile bring home so thatbwould be a raise lol

But I've ruled out Interstate and am considering another co. Not mentioned yet.

Glad to see Irocubabe has evolved from the lease purchase plan to a full out purchase plan. Better plan with more opportunities in the long run. I will keep tabs on this thread as I may decide to follow in her footsteps (so to speak).

Every 4th year of a trucks life is USUALLY the COSTLIEST in Maint $ per mile , 1 reason fleets get rid of them on a 36 - 44 month cycle.

Also another poster asked about the SPECS on your tractor and you did a ?

You need to know the way the truck is spec'd , it maybe on the used truck lot for a reason , whats the gear ratio , wheelbase , size of the tires , weight fueled , whats the height of the 5th wheel , is is stationary or slideable.
