Kentucky has some good points on doing the follow up letters. Anytime I resigned from a job or got hired, I sent in a letter thanking him/her for my employment opportunity. This not only makes you look good, but it is the right thing to do regardless of whatever you hold against him or her.

Sir, not accusing you of being a (shudder) recruiter. I do understand that your a driver. What I was trying to say, very clumsily, was that you are doing a very good job, giving clear and precise comparasions of where you were and where your going and why. I like the posts and think your doing a great job. Hope to be able to find a place like this once I get my 1 or 2 years experience in and hope they'll overlook my felony. Keep up the good work.
I like what ya'lls saying about the follow up letters and persistance. Something I need to learn to do a better job at. Spent 24 years working for the state and coming to private enterprise is quite an eye opener. Learning lots about it, some good, some bad. Thanks for all the advice.

Lets face it, we have had one job we did not like. However we need to ask ourselves these questions about that job: Did we pefrom to their expectations? Did we pefrom the best we could and did we make mistakes that we learned not to do again. I emphasize the worse job as those you learn a sheet load from I can go on but to make it sweet;

Not every supervisor will remember your name and face
They will remember what you did to improve the work enviroment, contributions you made and material like that.

By writing letters to your previous and current employers, you can get good references, good connections and the such. It helps in long run and I was a little late doing that.

Great Thread. Couple of questions. How do you know how great Superior is when you just started? What is their hometime policy? Does Wal-Mart do any hiring at the New Albany DC? I have been checking out many companies and can't seem to make a decision. I am terrified of making a bad choice. I am leaving a great company that I have been driving with for the last 9 years.
