07 Freightliner Century temp gauge going up and down

    so the temp gauge started going up and down out of nowhere any ideas on the reason ?

    freight liner use 1939/1587 data link from the ECM to the instrument cluster control. its a direct copy from the ECM sensor, unlike a Kenworth for example that has its own separate sensors for the dash and the OEM engine sensors for the ECM.

    likely your engine temp sensor (cat, cummins or Detroit) or the harness is faulting.
    get it checked ASAP to ensure you don't have a blocked radiator or U/S thermostats causing the fluctuation.
